3 weeks ago I travelled through Fairlie/Tekapo. Would be rude to not stop at Mount Cook Fish and Chips. Mrs devoured the Chinese, Fried rice. Had previously had chow mein and now she wants to travel two hours every week for her fix. I grabbed fish and potato fritters. Better than any Oamaru fish and chip shop. Greasy enough to make you think about your childhood fish and chip nights but not so much they’ll stain the company car. 8.5/10

Thought I’d take on the U Bake Bakery in Washdyke today. Heard about it for years. Well it surely put the Oamaru bakery pies to Shame. About twice the height, steak chunks felt like 4cm cubes . Pastry suited my taste buds, flaky on top and bit softer around the shell. Washed down with a Maccas flat white. Sausage roll was ok and cheaper than Oamaru too. The rest of the bakery had me salivating. Looking forward to getting back there. 9.5 lost a point as one piece of meat had more grissle than meat. Shop great. Service great. Food great sorry delectables I can’t come back.

Indian Nepalese Kitchen Oamaru. Had on Wednesday night. Tried three Nepalese dishes. Chilli chicken hot with Gravy. Manchurian Chicken, Schezwan Noodles. Accompanied by a cheese and garlic naan and poppadoms and a hot mix pickle. Pickle was inedible not sure what was going on. Naan perfect. Noodles the Mrs favourite now. Chilli chicken beautiful and Manchurian was better than expected. 8.5/10

Changed it up today. Been a while. Tried The Criterian Bar & Eatery. Have seen many good reviews and some hate online. I can now say the hate is unjustified. First of all service. Top notch. Super friendly, helpful, not overbearing. Top guy. Environment was great should have come years ago. Main course. The food! Excellent. I ordered the lamb shank massaman curry. Rice was light and yum. Lamb was larger than expected and just came off the bone. Curry was top notch. Beer of choice was Emerson’s Hazed and Confused. The other half had the Cri Chicken Burger. Man, those fries were the best. Seasoned perfectly. Burger was excellent with the homemade siracha actually was the main talking point. She had a pan head beer from the tap to match. 2 meals and three beers for $116. Some will say a little pricey but the food was way better than I expected. The staff were as good as I have seen.

Well today I felt hungry so I splashed out. Stuff the fuel crisis it’s time to worry about myself.
I had been eyeing up “beyond a bite” for a while now and decided to jump in. This is in Oamaru across the road from the Countdown Carpark. Got a big hearty beef burger which had onion rings atop of the bun. Hearty as and a side of lamb loaded fries. Oh my delicious. Brioche buns, tasted like angel bay patties. Had lettuce and a slaw.Too much food, I had also bought a selection of KFC (boneless, wicked wings and normal chicken) but I had to put that aside for later. Solid 9 out of 10. Also bought 2 litre bottles of Canadian Club for $95 from Liquorland. Get down there. Only able to start now as been to full

Fish & Chips for Golden Dragon in Oamaru. Cheap. Better than previous times. It is actually edible. Fish is obviously hoki which I dislike. Meat patties is 100% the thin leader meat patties from supermarkets. Chop Suey patties ok. 6/10
