Today’s weather forecast is looking a little gloomy, so we’re moving today’s market to sheltered space for all to enjoy!

Today we will set up the market at the Mitchell County Fairgrounds, utilizing their new Sheep and Poultry shelter. We will be located at 1006 Chestnut Street at the very south of the grounds. Check out the map below for a visual aid!

A friendly reminder to our loyal supporters- please keep recreational carts off the park greenery and all sidewalks. We appreciate your support and cooperation.

Our next market is held this Thursday, beginning at 3:30pm.

NOTICE:
This serves as a reminder that Golf Carts or UTV's are NOT allowed on park property. The only exceptions are for those with valid handicap parking permits, and these vehicles may only park at designated areas at each diamond. These permits do NOT allow you to utilize the paved trails to access the concession stand or restrooms. This is a safety issue, as there are many people sharing the same space.

Furthermore, the use of ATVs, UTV’s and Golf Carts shall NOT be operated in any parks, ball fields, playgrounds, The Maple Trail, Harry Cook Trail, Green Belt Trail or upon any other city-owned properties.

These rules have been implemented for the safety of our pedestrians and mostly for our children. With summer activities underway, these rules will be effective immediately!

The Osage Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking the help of 2-3 volunteers to take on the role of Farmer’s Market Managers! The Market Managers are responsible for the day of market set up, coordination, and communication on behalf of the market. Market is held on Thursday afternoons from mid-May through the October from 3:30pm to 5:30pm with approximately thirty minutes of set up before and thirty minutes of tear down after.

The Market Manager Duties include the following:
-Communicate with the Chamber Director ahead of market day to plan layout and offer feedback from previous week
-Arrive at market sufficiently early to have all set up completed by 3:15pm
-Assist vendors, musicians, volunteers, etc to find their spots and be available to answer any questions
-Update “chalk” signs with info about music, special events, sponsors, and in-season produce based on weekly activities schedule
-Place all on-site signage prior to market opening welcome signs “chalk” signs, etc.
-Set up the “Welcome booth”
-Capture photos and/or videos of the market to utilize as promotional content

After Market
-Return all equipment (tables, canopies, signs, etc.) to the Chamber office.
-Ensure that the market area is clear and free of debris after market close
-Pick up any trash in the park and parking lot

General Responsibilities:
-Maintain open communication with the market vendors
-Act as a liaison between vendors and the Chamber
-Resolve any disputes that may arise between vendors, consumers and the community and notify the Chamber as necessary

Communicate with the Chamber to stay up to date on:
-Weekly events (music, youth activities, youth vending, and special events)
-Conducting vendor and customer surveys/counts at market as needed

Rules and Regulations:
-Learn and maintain a good understanding of all market, state and local rules
-Respond to vendor questions and ask the Chamber for clarification if needed
-Report any violations to the Chamber for further action if necessary

We hope to find a few volunteers that would be willing to work occasionally, rotating with other volunteers. You do NOT have to be available every week in order to help out. If you’re interested in helping out, please send us a message or email us at [email protected]
