🐝🀠 And that’s a wrap on the San Antonio Rodeo! 🀠🐝

So grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at the Alamo Area Beekeepers Association booth during the San Antonio Rodeo. It was such a joy connecting with our community, sharing about the importance of honey bees, and talking all things local beekeeping. 🍯🌻

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and supported our mission to protect and promote pollinators here in South Texas.

Until next year… keep supporting local and bee kind. πŸ’›πŸ

In the spirit of President's Day. Did you know that George Washington loved honey so much he reportedly ate it every dayβ€”on hoecakes and in his tea? 🍯

Even more interesting, he kept honey bees at his estate, Mount Vernon, to help pollinate fruits and vegetables. Washington called his hives β€œbee houses” and was among the early adopters of wooden hive boxes instead of traditional log hives.

Honey bees themselves arrived in America long before the United States existedβ€”brought by European colonists in 1622 to the Jamestown Colony. When swarms escaped into hollow trees, settlers became skilled at finding β€œbee trees.”

Pretty amazing how beekeeping has been part of American history from the very beginning. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ

: Did you know that in addition to being the patron saint of lovers and married couples, St. Valentine is also widely recognized as the patron saint of beekeepers? In fact, according to Heifer International, St. Valentine is β€œcharged with ensuring the sweetness of honey and the protection of beekeepers.”

🧑🍯 Thankful as a Beekeeper 🍯🧑

This Thanksgiving, I’m feeling especially grateful for my bees and the beautiful work we’ve been able to do together this year. Caring for them, learning from them, and even harvesting a little honey has been such a gift.

I’m also so thankful for the chance to share the magic of beekeeping with elementary school students and Girl Scouts β€” seeing their eyes light up and knowing that maybe a future beekeeper is being inspired means everything.

I’m excited for the programs and growth coming in 2026, and for all the ways nature continues to teach and ground me.

Grateful for the bees, for the community, and for the journey.
🍁🐝 Happy Thanksgiving! 🐝🍁

🐝 Beekeeping Day with the Girl Scouts! πŸ’šπŸ€Ž

I had the sweetest time teaching this amazing troop of Girl Scouts all about beekeeping today! From learning how honey is made to seeing real equipment up close, these girls were curious, brave, and full of great questions.

It’s so inspiring to watch young minds light up when they discover something new about nature and the important role bees play in our world. 🌎✨

Thank you, Troop 5135 for inviting me β€” your energy and kindness made my day! πŸ’›πŸ
Here’s to creating more moments that spark confidence, leadership, and a love for our environment.
