Today we're celebrating the waters that support Queensland fishing families and the wild-caught seafood we proudly bring to your table.

From the Coral Sea off Cairns and the Arafura Sea off Karumba in Gulf of Carpentaria, these waters are more than oceans to us - they're our workplace and the lifeblood of what we do. Every catch relies on healthy oceans, highly regulated fisheries, skilled fishers and a deep respect for the environment that sustains us 🙏

A fortnight ago I had the opportunity to present on an industry leadership panel for the National Seafood Industry Leadership Program (NSILP) 2026 Cohort, in Cairns for Residential One.

It felt surreal presenting to the room, because only 3 years ago I was sitting in the audience as part of the NSILP cohort myself, in Hobart 2023 - nervous, learning, growing and wondering where the journey would lead.

Looking back, it really has been an ever-evolving journey of saying yes to opportunities, stepping outside my comfort zone, meeting incredible people across the seafood industry, mentoring and to where I am today being involved in many industry committees to Director and Treasurer role in QSIA, our peak industry body.

Very proud to represent our wild-catch seafood industry, regional communities and small business sector! Grateful for the people along the way who saw potential in me before I fully saw it myself.
