A low key Pizza Night in Castlemaine on Friday, but as Dale says, we 'pushed the boat out'. I had some leftover slow-cooked lamb shoulder, so we did some souvlaki style pizzas. One was a simple lamb on yoghurt-tahini base with mint and lemon. The other used the same lamb with a spicy chilli tomato passata with mint, yoghurt and chilli honey. Both yum! Finished off with leftover banana bread pudding with stewed apple and pears w/ cinnamon and double cream. I'm all about reducing food waste and using up leftovers when I can.

We are having a break from markets while I recover from an injury, but we'll be back serving delicious meals and catering soon!

We’re back at the Wesley Hill Market, Castlemaine, today! It's going to be a lovely day, with the Young Makers onboard. We'll be serving delicious hot food & cold drinks from the verandah off the hall.

An abundant plate of:

- Pumpkin chickpea stew w/ local veggies (vegan, gf) - $15, or:

- Lentil sun-dried tomato stew w/ local veggies (vegan, gf) - $15

Served with your choice of potato mash (w/butter), or rice (vegan) + poppadums.

Free condiments include yoghurt tahini dressing, mint & tomato chutney, or hot sauce.

Available for take-away or BYO container for a 20% discount.

New addition includes warm frittatas:
- Veg spinach, mushroom, cherry tomato and fetta cheese (veg) - $5/slice; or:
- Bacon & cheese frittata w/ local veggies. - $5/slice

Free condiments, including chutneys & hot sauce.

Good Brew Kombucha Organic Kombucha (a range of flavours) - $5/bottle.

Tucker Dust - vegan seasoning using native ingredients, used in our stews - $15/jar.

We are taking a break from Wesley Hill Market, this week (30/08), but don't despair! We will be back bigger and better than ever next week, serving delicious locally made take-home meals and hot food from the kitchen window inside the hall.

Take-Home Meals and Good Brew Kombucha will be available for order from next Tues (02/09) by email or Facebook comment. Pickup locally in Castlemaine or limited local delivery. Shoot us a message and we will send you the menu!

Beautiful produce ready to cook for you at Wesley Hill Market, Castlemaine, 3450 Australia tomorrow!

We will have lovely home-cooked meals to take home with you to eat with family and friends:

• Pumpkin Chickpea Curry (Vegan +GF.) ($15) take-home or 20% discount if you BYO container. ($12)

• Lentil Shepherd’s Pie (Veg +GF.) ($15) take-home or 20% discount if you BYO container. ($12)

• Nettle Pesto Pasta (Veg) ($10) take-home or 20% discount if you BYO container. ($8) It won’t sting you – give it a go!

(all of these will also be available hot on the day. Bring a plate, or we will give you one to bring back. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Regenerate)

As usual, the Hot Potato Rösti will be running out the door ($10 for 2) Free condiments of spicy mint chutney and yoghurt tahini sauce.

After people tried our popular Pumpkin & Chickpea Curry and Lentil Shepherd’s Pie, they asked us what makes it so delicious!

It could be the wonderful mix of spices, including Smoked Paprika, cumin & crushed chillies? Or it could be the hand-soaked organic lentils and chickpeas?

But our magic wonderdust is a thing called Tucker Dust : a vegan flavour-enhancing powder from QLD, incorporating nutritional yeast, macadamias, native pepper berry and other spices. This stuff is truly wonderous and goes well on almost anything!

Last night I made a yummy dinner of Tuckerdust crusted roast snapper on a bed of yoghurt, tahini sauce, roasted vegetables, and a mint, cucumber, red onion & cider vinegar dressing. I’m using up some of things that go on our market meals, but also creating new things all the time!

This isn’t available as a take-home meal, but if you have a private catering event at your home, office, wedding or event, we would be happy to tailor a menu for you. Just contact us for a free customisable quote, and we’ll see what we can do!

At the Maine Meal, we like to use locally grown produce, especially if it's Organic! The chickpeas used in our Pumpkin & Chickpea Curry were kindly donated by the Salvation Army on behalf of Teasdale Ag.

They are an amazing grower of organic chickpeas and lentils, based in Rupanyup, Western Victoria. Check out their amazing story here!

Come along to Wesley Hill Hall & Market tomorrow (Sat 9th August) 9am-1pm (or until sold out) for some homemade take-home meals using local Mount Alexander produce.

• Vegetarian curries and pasta ($15)

We will also be offering on the day:
