Today, we were apart of a series of farm tours for extention agents from across the state. We are always thankful for our Haywood County extension office and the help the provide for our farm.

Did you know that your local Extension Office can help home growers too? You can ask them all about soil testing, planting practices, pruning, pest and disease management, and more. The Haywood County Extension Office number is 828-456-3575.

Protecting our new planted tomatoes from the frost. πŸ…πŸ₯Ά

We do not normally get frost after Mother's Day but SURPRISE here we are. πŸ˜’ This is our frost dragon. It's a tractor implement that blows out hot air and keeps the frost from settling as you drive.

I honestly can't remember a time we've had to worry about frost this late on our tomatoes but we're thankful we have this machine to protect them from the weather.

Weather: Surprise! Here is a frost that no one was predicting after Mother's Day. πŸ˜’

We got up at 5:00 am expecting a low of 39 but finding a low of 32 degrees. So out everyone ran to get frost protection going on the apples and flowers.

It looks like we were successful in saving our crops but this late frost in the middle of May is for the birds.
