Hey y’all, just a little Cold Mountain Farm Stand update 🌱
I know some of y’all may be stopping by looking for sourdough, banana bread, cookies, and all the other baked goodies, so I wanted to give a quick reminder that our kitchen is still in the middle of a remodel. That means the baked goods are taking a little break this week.
This old farmhouse has been standing since 1870, and we feel pretty blessed to be part of her story now. She needs plenty of work, but we don’t want to take away the charm that made us fall in love with her in the first place. We’re just trying to love her back to life, keep the old bones, the history, and the character, while making the kitchen work for our family and this little farm stand adventure.
We sure do miss baking for y’all, and we’ll let you know just as soon as the kitchen is back together and the bread is coming out of the oven again. Until then, we still have fresh eggs and plants down at the stand like usual. 🥚🌿
And speaking of eggs and chickens 🐓🥚 my dad is a big reason we even got started with our little flock. He helped us build our chicken coop, and a lot of our chickens were hatched right from eggs in his incubator.
He has another group of chicks he’s been hatching and raising, and they’re almost five weeks old now. He’ll be bringing them up this way soon, and this next group will be available for anyone interested! We won’t be keeping these. My dad loves his Brahmas, so I’m sure there will be some Brahma or Brahma-mix babies in the bunch. I’ll try to get some pictures and more details soon, but if you’ve been thinking about starting a little backyard flock or adding to yours, send us a message and let us know.
We’re also feeling thankful for this good rain. We were able to get a small garden planted right before it came through, and we’re hoping that means we’ll have some fresh veggies to share with y’all this summer. That’s something we’re really looking forward to.
Y’all let us know in the comments what you’d like to see more of at the stand this summer 👩🌾 veggies, herbs, flowers, baked goods, eggs, plants, or whatever comes to mind.
And as always, thank y’all for loving on our little stand, stopping by, sharing our posts, and telling your friends and family about us. It means the world to us. 🌧️🌱
