Meet Travis of Neidermyer's Poultry—and here's some real Market history: Neidermyer's has been here since the Chestnut Hill Farmers Market first opened in 1983. Travis and co-owner Twyla Weaver come from large Mennonite families and have continued a family tradition rooted in farming and farmers markets. Today, the counter is still very much old-school neighborhood service: fresh poultry, sausages, eggs, dairy and deli items, with the team happy to custom cut and prepare orders for customers.
Meet Sam, the baker behind Hearth & Soul. Sam took an interesting road to the bakery counter—his background is in IT, but a love of baking eventually became something bigger. Now at the Market, Hearth & Soul specializes in artisan breads and treats made from scratch with fresh, high-quality ingredients. A pretty good reminder that sometimes the second act is the sweetest one.Â
Meet Lhakyi of Momos of Tibet. Built around the idea that good food should nourish both body and spirit, Momos of Tibet serves handmade Tibetan dumplings alongside noodle and vegetable dishes, soups and more. Their momos come with fillings ranging from beef and lamb to chicken and vegetables—and they're one of those Market foods that are especially hard to walk past once you smell them cooking.
Meet Tarmily of Ka-Nom Nom, a family-owned bakery where Thai culinary traditions meet modern American baking. ("Ka-Nom" even means dessert in Thai.) Think pandan, coconut and mango alongside chiffon cakes, pastries and their signature Lava Buns. The husband-and-wife team behind the bakery describes their approach as a way to share Thai heritage through flavors that feel both new and familiar.Â
