The next mobile quail coop is underway!

The large shelf on the side of the structure will become bachelor cages for when there are too many boys and the girls need a break, or hospital cages in the event a bird needs some R&R.

Still plenty of work to go.

We found Hazel’s biggest fan!

With the weather getting warm don’t forget to enjoy a cool breeze or a big fan, like Hazel!

Today we’re working on projects in the garden and prepping for new birds to move out of the brooders and into some freshly built mobile coops. It is a quail coop day. We hope to post pictures as soon as it’s done!

They’re getting very big already!

In a few weeks they’ll be off milk and we get to start making cheese, yogurt, kefir, and probably start looking for a cream separator. 🍦

Phew….that took a lot longer than I thought. Start to finish three weeks of working on it a few minutes a night after closing at the hardware store in town, a random day off when I could dedicate a few hours, and today.

Another iteration rolls off the production floor and out into the pasture for our baby goats born just 7 weeks ago.

There is still a covered mineral and salt buffet that needs to be built and mounted when the supplies arrive, but, for now, it’s ready!

Look who decided to hatch last night!

This is the first cotournix quail we’ve hatched from our initial quail we purchased last year. So far, this little one has 8 other siblings who have joined the party today!

Maybe we’ll have quail eggs at the market next year, too!
