Another year of irrigation here at the corn shack we've been running water on the corn for almost 24 hours on and off throughout the day to try and keep ahead of the dry conditions.

We just finished preparing the seed bed for the third planting of sweetcorn. Soil was a little sticky from the rain yesterday, this allows us to level the field, dry out the soil, and keep the weeds from starting.

First planting is in the ground so that mean 2026 sweetcorn season has officially begun for the 309 corn shack. 🌽

We are getting the soil all prepped for sweetcorn. Last week we chiseled to break the hard ground and stir up the nutrients in the soil. Today we cultivate to level the chisel mounds then later this week we work the seed bed and plant the first planting.
