Good morning!
Well, it may be hot (so what else is new in Georgia?) but June is shaping up to be a much better month than May. Two weeks in, and we have completely sold out evey available space both times.

Saturday's sellout was thanks in large part to a whole boatload of first-time vendors who joined us, eleven in all (including a record five who managed to reserve their spots on Monday night.) Melva Blanchard was selling snow cones (a popular item in the humid heat), and Beth Fowler came with her spice mixtures. Maddie Snow had crocheted and sewn crafts, Meek Fowler makes purses, and Haley Bentley was selling her sugar scrubs. Sadie Barfield makes decor items and hair accessories, and Ted and Pam Duboise make homemade peanut butter and hot sauces in jalapeno, serrano, and habanero varieties. Bella Espinal brought refreshing strawberries and cream, Melanie Anderson had cookies and other baked goods, Chas Satterwhite was selling her crocheted amigurimi figures, and AJ Demmer had 3-D printed items. Welcome!

We also welcomed some charity groups: Mark Swift brought some of the youth from Calvary Chapel, who were raising money for camp. Karl Welsher was raising awareness for the Dot's Place Soup Kitchen in Columbus; it was a hot morning for black-eye pea and collard soup, but it sure smelled good! And Gwen Miller (from our host, Midland Church) was there representing Clement Arts, the charity for which we're currently raising money. They'll use those funds to help support families in the process of fostering or adopting children, especially those coming from abusive situations. We hope to be able to give Clement Arts $2000 after next week's market. They'll be with us again next week; be sure to go by and get more info about this worthy local charity.

It could change, of course, but right now, this coming Saturday is looking pretty good: not as hot, and with the rain hopefully holding off until the late afternoon. But hot or cold, rain or shine, the market will be open. I hope you'll come join us!

Regards, Larry
