The weather is keeping us on our toes! No berries today, Sunday, June 7. Planning for June 8, June 10, and June 12 this week. Our strawberry season is limited this year!

PRUNING PERENNIALS in Octoberish discourage disease in the plants and also promotes strong growth in the Spring.

Common perennials to prune in October or after first frost:
Hostas – If you cut, the time is after first frost, probably next 30 days. I leave mine and just rake them off in the Spring. They become paper thin and easy to rake off.
Bee Balm – Cut down to the base any time in October.
Daylilies – Cut back to 2 to 3 inches above the crown.
Peonies - – Cut all stems to the ground.
Iris – Trim back to about 6 inches.
Phlox – Give it a haircut to about an inch after first frost.
Catmint – Trim back to a few inches.
Yarrows – Cut spent stems.
Hardy Geranium – Prune to a couple inches.
