We have a lot of lettuce & other things ready on the farm, so some of our farmers-in-training are planning to venture out to the Bellville Farmers' Market in the morning. We hope to see you there!

Jon is finally home, praise the Lord! Thank you for all the prayers. We're not quite ready to talk about what happened, it's still very raw and emotional for us, but I do want to let everyone know that it's a real miracle this man just walked through the door on his own two feet. God is good, friends, God is good. 🙏

Hug your loved ones. Smile even when it's hard. Be kind, always. Forgive liberally. We never know when's the last time we'll get to laugh, smile, and share life with those we love. ❤️

🍓 STRAWBERRY UPDATES:🍓

➡️ The strawberries do NOT like this very wet weather we've had lately. We harvested yesterday and today, and had to toss the vast majority of berries we picked. It was just too much rain at the wrong time, when our berries were ripening and needed sun and heat!

➡️ There are 15 pints of berries in the farm store today, $5 each. Some of them are small, so to keep it fair for all, we mixed up the big and little ones in each box. That's ALL we found that was in good enough shape to sell after many, many hours of working our way through the thousands of plants in the fields.

➡️ Farm Store berries are first come, first served. Our crew needs to continue focusing on bed prep and planting at this time, and we lack the infrastructure to take orders for pick up at the store.

➡️ The only way to place an order right now is through The Morrow Market. They DO have the infrastructure to handle your orders, and we're adding new items to their site daily! You have until midnight TONIGHT (Tues, 5/26) to place orders for Friday (5/29) delivery!

➡️ We're hoping for a better strawberry harvest on Thursday. We'll be filling orders for The Morrow Market on that day, and if there's any left, they'll be in the store. (At the rate berries are ripening in the field and the rate they're selling through The Morrow Market, I don't anticipate having any berries for the store on Thurs/Fri. So plan accordingly and get your order in if strawberries were on your weekend menu!)

Friends, we have some exciting news to share. We've teamed up with The Morrow Market to bring all of your farm favorites direct to your home--always on Fridays--but on a schedule that works best for you, whether that be once a month, every week, or somewhere in between!

With everything that's been going on with Jon, we've needed to make some tough decisions lately about the farm. Fortunately, this decision was easy to make once we met Rachel, owner and founder of The Morrow Market.

As a mom of young kids, Rachel wanted a more convenient way to source wholesome, nourishing food from small, local farms like ours, but busy life/family schedules limited her ability to make it around to area farmers' markets.

Seeking a better option and wanting to help others bridge this gap as well, Rachel founded The Morrow Market, and now spends her Thursdays driving around the countryside, stopping at small farms like ours to pick up all the best and freshest things our region has to offer, then delivering those items right to your door.

The best part? It's all custom order. Which means YOU decide what your family needs each week, place your orders by midnight on Tuesday, then sit back and wait for your new best friend Rachel to arrive on Friday with all the goods.

No mystery boxes of veggies your family has never heard of and won't eat. No awkward weekly subscriptions that you can't figure out how to pause or cancel when it's time for the annual family vacation or when life throws you curve balls. Just a simple system, open to both members and guests, where everyone gets to select what their family needs and when.

We're still getting some of our items added to the site, but all of our best sellers are already live, AND we've added some new size options for things like salad mixes--you can still get the 5oz bags we sell at our farm store and markets OR you can get a bulk 1lb bag--just use the drop-down menus to select the size that works best for you.

Plus there are a lot of other great local farmers, bakers, and makers who supply The Morrow Market, so you can get a full diet grocery delivery complete with fruit, veggies, meat, dairy products, baked goods, and much, much more!

So head on over to www.themorrowmarket.com before midnight on Tuesday to lock in your orders for strawberries, edible flowers, salad greens, veggies, and more before they sell out! Give them a try--we think you'll love them as much as we do! ❤️

Reminder, we are NOT at Bellville Farmers' Market this week. Thank you for all the prayers for Jon Brokaw. We are not out of the woods yet, but most of his numbers are improving, and the team here in the ICU has been taking great care of him. We even have a bit of a view--we're told we should be able to see the OSU stadium from here. We can't figure out where it is, so if you see it, let us know!

Our friends Bryan & Ruth McClelland will be at the market this week as new vendors with their homegrown rhubarb and asparagus, and they will be bringing Gertie's Jams & Jellies this week, so look for them if you need a restock on her great products!

We have NOT had a chance to pick more strawberries yet, the weather is just not cooperating, and our crew has been taking advantage of the cold, rainy weather to get the rest of our summer crops in. Rainy days are great for transplanting!

Lettuce is stocked up in the farm store, and we're just a short, scenic 15-minute drive from the Bellville market. So stop by the market to get your baked goods, plants, asparagus, rhubarb, jams, herbal remedies, and whatnot, then bounce on over to the farm store for your greens. The crew has been switching back and forth between harvesting and planting, so there's pretty good selection in the store.

Starting next week, you'll be able to get ALL of our farm fresh goods delivered to your doorstep, including STRAWBERRIES and plant starts! Look for an announcement later today with more info on how to order!

***UPDATE: Jon's condition is continuing to improve. We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers. The crew tells me lettuce is restocked in the store, but berries are selling as fast as they can get them picked.***

Please continue to lift Jon up in prayer. We ran into some complications late last night requiring a second emergency surgery.

Also, the crew would like to let everyone know that the farm store is currently sold out of strawberries & lettuce. They are trying to get both harvested today, if weather cooperates, and we'll try to post an update once things have been restocked.

Friends, I'm sorry we've been so quiet on here lately and so slow to respond to your messages. This is the busiest time of the year for us on the farm, and Jon has been facing some medical issues lately that has pulled much of our attention away from the farm. Add to that, we've been receiving hundreds of messages and requests in a single day, and we simply can't keep up with everything that's been going on.

We thank you in advance for being kind and patient with us and our entire crew--many of whom are children, student interns, or, like us, volunteers who give freely of their time to support the mission of providing healthy food to our community and helping others learn how to grow food organically.

Given what's going on with Jon, we've needed some time to regroup with our family, friends, and crew before making any decisions about the remainder of the season. Now that we have a rough plan, we wanted to bring you up-to-speed on what's happening and where to find our produce in the coming weeks.

➡️ As many of you know, Jon is a cancer survivor. We recently found out that the cancer is back, in a different place. He was scheduled to have major surgery in the near future. That surgery recently got moved up. TO TODAY, 5/20.

➡️ In order for us to make sure Jon gets the recovery time he needs and the daily needs of the farm continue to be met (there are LOTS of living things here that require daily tending!) we've needed to make some tough decisions.

➡️ We will not be at the Polaris Farmer's Market or Bellville Farmers' Market for the remainder of May. We hope to be back at all of our weekly farmers' markets sometime in June. Jon's recovery is our main priority at this time.

➡️ As much as we can, we'll be restocking the Farm Store and posting in our stories what's available. This won't be daily at first--maybe once or twice a week.

➡️ I apologize--we can't take orders for the Farm Store at this time. We don't have adequate infrastructure at the farm (such as cooler space, reliable systems for taking/managing orders, etc.) to handle the number of orders we've been receiving, and we're extremely short-staffed until the remainder of our crew start in June. Everything will be available on a first come, first served basis, and we'll do our best to update you on available quantities.

➡️ We're working on a delivery option through a third-party provider, and hope to share more info on that soon--stay tuned for more details!

Whew! That was a lot. If you made it this far, may I ask if you'd say a prayer for Jon and our farm crew? Jon has a long road to recovery ahead of him, and many of our crew members have already made a lot of sacrifices to be here, putting in the hard work necessary to get everything planted for summer and recover from all the storm damage we had this spring. We were open and transparent with them about what this season might look like, and they've all agreed to give it a go.

Now, our crew members have also agreed to give up the "fun shifts" at farmers' markets for an undetermined amount of time to help catch up on the rest of the weeding and planting work needing done at the main farm while I bounce back-and-forth between farming and caring for Jon after his surgery. It's a level of commitment and maturity you don't always see in folks their age, and no matter how our season turns out from here, we're grateful for their willingness to do hard things in service to our local community. ❤️

***UPDATE: SOLD OUT FOR REMAINDER OF WED, 5/20. PICKING MORE THURS, 5/21.***

Just put 17 quarts of our delicious, organically-grown strawberries in the farm store! Come get them!

The self-serve store at 4100 Harris Rd (Butler, OH) is open 8am-8pm daily.

We only made it through 3 beds of strawberries today, and still have at least 15 more beds to pick, so there will be even more berries in the store tomorrow. 🍓

Hi friends, we wanted to post a quick update: we are completely sold out of lettuce and produce. 😲

There are a few dozen eggs in the farm store, plus some pickles and a few of our favorite products from one of our partner farms, Wild Acre (honey, vanilla bean pastes, seeds, and seed bombs). But if you're looking for produce today, I'm sorry, we don't have any! 🍯

We have lots of great things growing for you, they just need a little more time. Thanks for your patience with us while we recover and replant from spring storm damage! ❤️

This farming thing sure isn't easy, but all of you make it worthwhile. Thanks for hanging in there with us! We'll have more goodies ready for you later this week (lettuce, peas, carrots, brassica sprouts, strawberries, herbs, and more!) 🥰

Huge thanks to everyone who stopped out to see us and all of the other vendors at Bellville Farmers' Market yesterday. We saw so many new and familiar faces, despite the less than perfect weather (cold, rain, and even a bit of hail!) 🌧

We started this thing to help connect our community to healthy food, grown without harmful herbicides and pesticides, and to help young adults interested in a future in agriculture find affordable ways to start a farming business without huge investments of land and equipment. All of YOU are that final missing piece that makes this whole thing work. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU so much for being here. ❤️
