South Baldwin Farms

South Baldwin Farms A place where the peaches are sweet, apples crisp, and the hay grows tall and green. South Baldwin Farms is family owned and operated.

Dave Miles has produced quality brome hay and maintained a small orchard for over 10 years. In 2014 Dave’s daughter, Katelyn, and son-in-law, Gabe, talked him into expanding the orchard from about 1 acre to approximately 35 acres. Planting of apples, peaches, and blackberries began in spring 2015. Further expansion of the Apple orchard and u-pick blackberries and pumpkins began in 2020. By 2023, t

he orchard will cover approximately 75 acres. Our goal is to provide quality products using environmentally responsible and efficient growing methods.

🌟 BLACKBERRY UPDATE 🌟

We’re still a few days away from picking any blackberries. There are a few about to ripen where foliage is thin, but in the majority of the patch there’s enough foliage to shade the berries and they’re much further behind. See the difference in the 2 photos.

I’ll keep you updated.

Spring update: πŸ‘ 🍎 🍏 πŸ’ πŸ‘
Peaches, apples, blackberries have all survived this crazy extremes. It looks like we’ll even have some cherries and nectarines! It doesn’t appear to be a full crop of anything but it does look like an ok crop of everything. We expect good size on the fruit given the smaller crop load. Often times that makes up for some of the loss.

We started running the overhead irrigation in the peaches, nectarines, and cherries about midnight. It’s almost warm enough now at 9:40am that we can turn it off soon. By continually spraying water the ice can not drop much below the point of freezing. Open peach flowers are hardy to about 28F. The air temp was about 26F for a long period last night. This is the craziest up and down spring I can recall.
