Hello everyone,

Hope you’re all enjoying the cozy rainy day.  Just figured I’d interrupt your Friday afternoon reverie to tell you about some fromage that we will be sampling out tomorrow during our Saturday tasting! 🥂

This gorgeous red-tinged wheel is called Vully Rouge and it hails from Fribourg, Switzerland.  Made from 100% organic, raw, full cream cow’s milk, this cheese is washed several times a week with Pinot Noir from the slopes of Mont Vully as it ages.  This helps contribute not only to its complex and piquant flavor, but also gives it its distinctive red hue. 🍷

From this particular wheel, I get notes of caramelized onions and salted, roasted nuts with a lingering, slightly fruity finish.  Absolutely delicious alongside a glass of Pinot Noir, or a crisp, cold Pilsner! 🍺

Don’t take my word for it, though; this cheese actually won the silver medal at the World Cheese Championship in 2018! And as I mentioned above, we will be sampling some out tomorrow during our tasting.  Hope to see you there! 🧀

Hello everyone! TGIF, especially when it’s this gorgeous of a day outside! Just dropping in on the ‘gram here to tell you about one of my favorite cheeses in the case right now, Cornish Kern! 🧀

This delicious cheddar-y/gouda-y/alpine-y hybrid is made in Cornwall, England - which is not only the resting place of King Arthur and Guinevere,  but also one of my personal favorite places in the world.  Makes sense then that this cheese is so special to me.  Made from locally sourced milk from some seriously cute Cornish cows, this cheese develops an extremely nutty, savory flavor with the slightest touch of mountainous smoke from the slatey, seaside terroir.  Imagine that haze coming off of the mountains and imbuing itself in every delectable bite.  The finish almost caramelizes in your mouth, always leaving you reaching for just a little bit more. 🇬🇧⚔️

If you need more proof that this cheese is the real deal, let its accolades speak for it; Miss Cornish Kern herself won the world champion title at the World Cheese Awards in 2017.  And today, Cornish Kern is considered one of the flagship artisan cheeses of Britain and an example of how regional food traditions can achieve international acclaim.  But I still think you probably have to taste it to believe it, so come by and try some during our Saturday wine tasting tomorrow from 2-5! 🎉
