In 2019, The Piedmont Environmental Council announced its ownership of the Gilberts Corner Farmers Market at the intersection of Rt. 50 and Rt. 15 in Loudoun County. As a first step in ensuring farm production at the corner, we entered into a long-term agreement to lease fields to farmer Tyler Wegmeyer, who has been part of the market since 2012. Opposite Rt. 50 from the market, we also launched our 40-acre Community Farm at Roundabout Meadows in 2019 to grow fresh produce for area food pantries and demonstrate regenerative agriculture practices.

Wegmeyer and his family have for many years run a popular CSA and pick-your-own service at its locations, enabling visitors and residents of Loudoun County to roam strawberry patches for the freshest, ripest berries beginning in May, and to pick pumpkins and sunflowers through the fall.
