Only half the onion harvest is in and it's a beautiful crop this year. The white onions are still in the ground along with the shallots and leeks.

Dylan pulled all the yellow and red onions and both the regular and elephant garlic before the storms last week. This gave us a chance to get the harvest hauled under the shelter of the farmstand to cure.

Order for delivery to Oakalla, Kempner, Cove, Evant or Lampasas.

Or stop by the farmstand in Adamsville. You can't miss it this week the aroma of curing onions will help direct you to the farmstand.

A new batch of vanilla extract was just decanted and labeled. We make small batch extracts that you just can't find elsewhere. The new lot was extracted for 21 months and produced 8 bottles.

This double fold (or double strength) vanilla started with a bottle of Woodford Reserve Bourbon, aka the good stuff, combined with 5 ounces of Madagascar grade A vanilla beans and allowed to steep in the recesses of a dark closet shelf since October of 2024.

Get some now while supplies last.

If you grow indeterminate tomatoes you're probably familiar with the 'Florida weave'. If not, here's Dylan's take on it with old drip tape.

Florida weave is a system for supporting indeterminate growth in tomatoes. The plants can get up to 5 feet tall and sprawl everywhere. To contain and bring some order growers weave a string down both sides of the row creating a 'wall' effect with the branches. It makes for easy harvest. Add a new row of weave about every foot of vertical growth to maintain control of the tomatoes.

We use drip tape over and over literally for years. The sun speeds up its decay, mice chew it for access to a drop of water, bad aim with a harvest knife can slice it open. Sure you can patch it but eventually drip tape ends up in the garbage.

Several years ago Dylan started reusing bad drip tape for our Florida weave. It's chunky. Not particularly attractive. It's also extremely sturdy. It works great.

Recycling, reusing, making do.
