The Cardrona Distillery is returning to Cheese & Cheers for a very special in-store tasting event on Thursday, June 11th from 5:30pm to 7pm.

This event will launch Cardrona's esteemed whisky range and delectable Rose Rabbit liqueurs at Cheese & Cheers.

Tickets are only $10, and available in store and at the door. Special Cardrona door prizes for first 20 customers attending. Bottle pre-sales are also available at Cheese & Cheers or at our new online shop. Each bottle pre-sale will include a free, complimentary event ticket.

It's the final week for our special World Whisky Day celebrations at Cheese & Cheers! Discover our new international whiskies from Australia, Ireland, and Scotland! Special whisky tasting flight will continue until May 31st for $25.

The new international whiskies are:

Archie Rose's Single Malt (Australia) - This Single Malt Whisky is crafted to highlight six malts, as opposed to the traditional one or two, providing a richer and more expressive flavour, full of distinct regional character. Matured predominantly in toasted and charred Australian apera casks, ex-bourbon and their own 36-month air-dried ex-rye casks this whisky reveals fresh herbs, shortbread biscuits, raisins, toffee and dark chocolate on the nose with a luscious palate of sticky date pudding, amaretto and espresso.

Archie Rose's Rye Malt (Australia) - Their preference for malted rye over the far more commonly used unmalted rye affords this whisky a point of distinction evident upon the very first sip. A layered, aromatic spirit it offers notes of spiced custard, ginger, stone fruit and baked apple pie with a fresh herbal finish that lingers on the palate.

Dunville's 1808 (Ireland) - A classic blend of malt, grain and pot still whiskies, Dunville's 1808 is a revial of one of Ireland's most famous whiskey brands and pays homage to the year the original brand was established. It is described as a light and clean blend, bursting with character and with notes of sweet vanilla and orchard fruits, lemon curd, candied citrus peel and malty sweetness.

Dunville's Three Crowns (Ireland) - Three Crowns is a premium blended Irish Whiskey containing some of Dunville's older stock. It has been selected from three fine aged whiskies and finished in a parcel of three ex-Sherry casks. There are notes of orchard fruits, nougat, peanut brittle, butterscotch, citrus, green apples and hints of spice.

Glenglassaugh's Portsoy (Scotland) - Named after the neighbouring harbour village of Portsoy which inspires the deep maritime flavour of this richly peated single malt, matured in sherry, bourbon and port casks.

Glenglassaugh's Sandend (Scotland) - Inspired by the crescent beach of Sandend Bay, Glenglassaugh's Sandend Whisky is matured in bourbon, sherry and manzanilla casks for luscious waves of flavour.

Starting today, savour this rare single barrel aged whisky tasting at Cheese & Cheers from May 1st to 14th, showcasing only New Zealand-made whiskies for only $25!

Kiwi Spirit's Waitui Whiskey - A unique New Zealand Single Malt Whiskey crafted with care in beautiful Golden Bay. Eight long years mellowing and maturing in Manuka honey mead barrels. This small batch single malt is one of only a few true honey malt whiskeys produced in the world today. Made using New Zealand malted barley and aged in Manuka Honey Mead oak barrels for no less than eight years the result speaks for itself in a very gentle easy to drink whiskey.

Pokeno's Prohibition Porter - This is a special edition whisky is first fully matured in a first fill bourbon cask, then finished in a barrel which lent to Liberty Brewing, for the maturation of their fantastic Prohibition Porter.

Divergence's Sloe Gin Barrel Finish - A cask strength release finished in barrels that once held Curiosity Gin's Pinot Barrel Sloe — winner of the title New Zealand's Best Sloe Gin multiple times over. This whisky matured for 7 years in Virgin Oak barrels, followed by over one year of finishing in a Sloe Gin barrel.

As these whiskies are made from only one barrel each, the supply is limited! Taste and purchase while stock lasts.

TASTING ROOM ASSISTANT – Cheese & Cheers, New Zealand’s one and only whisky and cheese tasting bar situated in the Vines Village at 193 Rapaura Road, is looking for a hospitality superstar to fill a senior staff position to work over the peak summer months (November to February), with the potential for the employment offer to be extended for the right applicant and extra days offered as required if available. This is a casual, part-time position.

Example shift schedule:
Friday to Monday, typical hours 9.30am to 5:30pm, or as needed.

Renumeration will be based on experience and ability to fit the role. Minimum rate $26.00 per hour. Expression of interest can be made by email to [email protected] or in person at Cheese & Cheers.
