"I never thought I would get here." 🌱💚

This summer was so dry that everyone said the vegetables would never grow. But they did grow. And here they are: over 20 types of vegetables, resplendent with colour, vibrant, nutritionally wonderful, full of vitamins and fantastic flavours.

In Peter's words: "Never be surprised with nature. It will always come right in the end if you have faith and do your job right." 💚

"Doeddwn i erioed wedi meddwl y byddwn i'n cyrraedd yma." 🌱💚

Roedd yr haf hwn mor sych nes i bawb ddweud na fyddai'r llysiau byth yn tyfu. Ond fe wnaethon nhw dyfu. A dyma nhw: dros 20 math o lysiau, yn llawn lliw, yn fywiog, yn wych o ran maeth, yn llawn fitaminau a blasau anhygoel.

Yn ngeiriau Peter: "Peidiwch byth â syndod gyda natur. Bydd hi bob amser yn dod yn iawn yn y diwedd os oes gennych chi ffydd ac yn gwneud eich gwaith yn iawn." 💚

Cavolo nero yw'r gêl i bobl sy'n meddwl nad ydyn nhw'n hoffi cêl. 🥬💚
Yn felysach, yn fwy tyner, ac heb y gwead caled, ffibrog hwnnw, efallai y bydd yn newid eich meddwl.

Cydiwch mewn rhai yn yr hwb yr wythnos hon! 💚

Have you noticed these green mandarins in the hub?
Sam's here to explain why they're already here!

The first mandarins of the season often arrive with green patches on their skin. This doesn't mean they're unripe. It's simply because the nights haven't been cold enough yet for the skin to turn fully orange. Inside, they're juicy, sweet, and ready to eat.

Come and grab some in the hub now!

Ydych chi wedi sylwi ar y mandarin gwyrdd hyn yn yr hwb?
Mae Sam yma i esbonio pam eu bod nhw yma'n barod.

Mae mandarin cyntaf y tymor yn aml yn cyrraedd â chlytiau gwyrdd ar eu croen. Nid yw hyn yn golygu eu bod nhw'n anaeddfed. Mae'n syml oherwydd nad yw'r nosweithiau wedi bod yn ddigon oer eto i'r croen droi'n hollol oren. Y tu mewn, maen nhw'n suddiog, yn felys, ac yn barod i'w bwyta.

Dewch i nôl rhai yn yr hwb rŵan!

What a lovely day we had at the Aberystwyth Autumn Fair!
We ran a raffle asking people to guess the weight of our box of local and organic veg, and our winner guessed it almost perfectly: just a bit more than 1kg.
She was so happy to win, and we were so happy to hand it over!

A huge thank you to Eco Hub Aber for organising such a brilliant event, and to everyone who came along to say hello. We loved meeting you all and chatting about local food, our growers, and everything we do at Bwyd Dyfi!

Didn't win the raffle? Don't worry!
You can still order one of these beautiful boxes online. 💚

Meet these organic kiwi berries now at Bwyd Dyfi. They are sweeter, sharper, and easier to eat than a regular kiwi. Just pop them in your mouth, no peeling needed.

Megs loves them on pancakes, but what about you? Have you tried them before?

Come and grab a bunch from the shop! 💚

Last Saturday, we welcomed the wonderful Annie to Porthi Aber for our autumn kimchi fermenting workshop, and what a day it was! 🥬✨

Together, we made kimchi using seasonal vegetables from local farms and gardens, talked about being creative with preserving our own food traditions, and explored what that means for food resilience here in Wales and across the UK.

In Annie's words:
"Porthi Aber is this amazing community space reimagining food culture." All this is about how we can eat, grow, cook, preserve, and feast together.

If you missed this workshop, don't worry. There are always more!

Follow Porthi Aber and Bwyd Dyfi on social media to see what's coming up next. We'd love to see you there. 💚

Meet James MacDuff, our apple grower from Cwrt y Cadno farmhouse in Llanilar. 🍎💚

James supplies apples to Bwyd Dyfi between July and late October, and this week he brought in three fantastic varieties:

🍎 Ashmead's Kernel is a russet-looking apple with a very fine, connoisseur's taste. Widely regarded as one of the best.
🍎 Ida Red is a juicy, tasty variety originally bred in America. It has a a sweet-tart, mild flavor and is great for desserts. Also, it keeps very well.
🍏 Bramley Seedling is the classic cooking apple. Perfect for pies, crumbles, bakes, or tarts. Very versatile and keeps for weeks.

And here's the best part: James grows all his apples without any pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or mineral-based fertilisers. They are essentially organic in production.

Locally grown, high quality and incredible taste.
Come and grab a selection now at Bwyd Dyfi! 🛒
