Cold evenings call for a pot pie 🥧🍂

Choose turkey or chicken, with a rich, hearty stew packed with vegetables, perfectly seasoned and tucked inside our house-made butter and lard crust.

Looking for a vegetarian option? We also have pot pies packed with lentils and mushrooms, wrapped in an all-butter crust.

Our individual 6-inch pot pies bring all the comfort of a homemade dinner without the prep. Bake straight from frozen at 350°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes, then settle in for a cozy, satisfying meal.

It’s finally back! Our house-made, nut-free granola is on the shelves again 🥣🤍

As a 100% nut-free kitchen, this is one of the most important things we make at The Piggy Market.

Why the wait? Our previous seed supplier changed their practices and added “may contain traces of nuts” to their packaging. That meant we could no longer use their seeds. Keeping our commitment to a nut-free kitchen came first, even if it meant taking granola off the shelves for a while.

We’re so happy to be making it again! Follow along as we mix oats, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, h**p hearts, cranberries, and raisins with our signature spice blend, agave syrup, and maple syrup. Full of crunch, a little sweetness, and plenty of care, it’s a delicious way to start your day.

And as Dave says, “We’ll be making nut-free granola until the end of days.” 🤍

Some of our favourite dishes start with a memory 🤍🥣

For Dave, it’s his Oma’s split pea and ham soup. She owned Heidi’s Delicatessen in Kingston for 10 years while he was growing up and was one of his biggest influences in learning to cook and finding his way around a kitchen. Her soup remains a cherished memory and the inspiration behind the split pea and ham soup we make at The Piggy Market today.

That connection runs through our kitchen. For Dave, Warren, Cody, and the rest of our team, so much of what we make is rooted in family, the food we grew up with, and the lessons we’ve gathered along the way, each interpreted in our own way today.

Fall comfort food, made in-house and ready for your oven 🍂

One of our three signature handmade lasagnas, our bacon and mushroom lasagna is layered with handmade pasta, creamy béchamel, mixed organic mushrooms, double-smoked bacon, and lots of cheese. Five delicious layers, made with care and baked until golden and bubbling.

The Three Sisters Soup is a seasonal favourite with a story rooted in the land 🌽🫘🎃

Built around corn, beans, and squash, this vegan soup takes inspiration from the Three Sisters, a companion-growing tradition practiced by many Indigenous Peoples across North America. Each plant supports the others as they grow: corn provides structure for beans, beans enrich the soil, and squash helps protect the ground. Together, they represent reciprocity, balance, and community.

Dave first learned this recipe while working at Sweetgrass Aboriginal Bistro in the mid-2000s, and we are proud to bring it back for a short time every year.

Available only from late September into early October, this warm and comforting soup is made for the change of seasons. Find it in-store at The Piggy Market in Westboro, or come see us tomorrow at the Cumberland Farmers’ Market.
