Never ordered Korean food before? We put together a quick guide to the three dishes most first-timers fall in love with.

One is the safe bet. One is the real deal. And one is the surprise hit that people come back for twice.

Swipe through to see what they taste like, what's in them, and what to expect when the plate hits the table.

Then come see us in our shop in Tin Town and find out which one wins you over! ❀️

We promise it's way less intimidating than the menu might look at first glance.

P.S.: All the bibimbap veggies are fresh prepped by us daily from scratch πŸ˜‰(it's a lot of work but it's worth it and we're not willing to compromise on taste)

Mama Kim talks about Naengmyeon (냉면) and Kongguksu (콩ꡭ수)

Summer noodles are typically consumed during the summer to beat the heat from within 😊

We have the soy milk, authentic buckwheat noodles, mul (water) naengmyeon and bibim (mix) noodles in stock!

They are healthy, delicious and affordable 🀝

Most underrated snacks in our Korean store 🍫πŸ₯‘

1. Orion Poca chips

Made from 100% Korean potatoes, simple classic chip flavor, lightly salted, awesome crunch and not too salty

2. Karamucho Hot Chili Corn snack

Has a little bit of a kick, 2/10 on a spicy scale, nice crunchy texture.

3. Choco Churro Turtle chips are an absolute classic because of their unique texture.

They are light and crispy, and the sweetness of the chocolate perfectly mashes with their texture.

4. Hazelnut White Heim’s

These are insanely good! The nutty paste in the middle is absolutely incredible.

5. Haitai egg cookies

I love their soft texture and the sweet but not too sweet flavour. They melt in your mouth and as a bonus they are enriched with calcium and vitamins B1, 2 and 6.

6. Steak and Wasabi Turtle Chips

They have this distinct wasabi kick that you can feel in your nose after the first bite which i love.

7. Yakgwa cookies

True Korean classic. Their soft chewy texture is irresistible to me and they pair really well with coffee.

8. Hapi wasabi peas

Probably the healthiest snack out of all of these. They are wasabi coated dried green peas that have an awesome wasabi kick and they are super crunchy.

A customer asked me when I was at the register the other day if I eat here. I do - almost every day (except for when I have very specific cravings)! Most of the food I eat are the same dishes we have on the menu, but when we have time, we get creative.

With food this good, it's hard to resist πŸ˜…

We prep our meats in-house and develop our own recipes. Our chicken marinade has 12 natural herbs and spices.

We whip up bulgogi marinade and spicy pork sauce weekly. Sweet chili sauce brews twice a week. Making kimchi is a 2-day process, and we do it 3 times a week. Japchae is cooked fresh daily in multiple batches. Each Kimbap roll is made right when you order it.

There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes. It's short of fascinating what we achieve in our small kitchen, and we're incredibly proud with how we do it! πŸ‘©β€πŸ³πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

Speaking of getting creative, we're in the final stages of getting a new menu, with a couple brand new dishes 🀯

Stay tuned!

We have 43 kinds of ramen (!) - we just counted 😁

Yes, FORTY-THREE. From creamy tonkotsu to spicy Korean fire noodles...

1 and 2. All the spicy varieties. Why so many? It's simple, people like spicy ramen. It might look overwhelming, but they're easy to identify. The description will say "spicy".

But we made a little cheat sheet πŸ€“

3. This will help: the 3 horsemen of spicy noodle brands.

MEP - brand name that is a pun. Maep-da (or mepda) [맡닀] means "to be spicy".

Shin - Nongshim's (Korea's best selling noodle brand) spicy line. The Premium package looks similar, but it's very different because it comes with a bone broth packet - very delicious!

Buldak - anything with the cartoon chicken on it is VERY spicy🌢️. Buldak translates from Korean as "fire chicken". They also make pretty decent hot sauce, which you will find in the sauce isle.

4. Non-spicy and mild noodles. Ones marked as Mild have a ✨little✨ bit of a kick, but are palatable to most non-spicy eating people.

The blue packet in the middle row on the left are a 10/10 delicious cheesy mascarpone noodles. Top tier stuff.

JIN Mild is an excellent choice for the entry level ramen crowd.

5. Ramen kits. Each package makes 2 servings, comes with noodles and sauce, and we sell them for just $4.75 per package!

They look similar, but the taste is very different.

(left to right)

Soy = simple light broth

Sesame = richer broth than soy, still on a lighter side. Spicy 🌢️

Tonkotsu = super rich creamy broth. Amazingly tasty.

We're getting ready for the winter holidays. It's been an amazing season so far - thank you all for the love and support! πŸ’πŸ’«

Holdiay hours will be posted shortly, we are going to take some days off to get ready for 2026 and catch up for some minor space updates and repairs.

Restaurant work is both immensely exhausting and rewarding. It's impossible to please everyone, but I'd day we really did our best to get as close to that as possible

Comox Valley really is an amazing place to be and work in. The Tin Town community has been nothing but amazing. Our neighbours, customers, suppliers, friends and colleagues - thank you. We wouldn't be here without you πŸ’•

Bibim-guksu [λΉ„λΉ”κ΅μˆ˜] is a very popular noodle dish in Korea that we're bringing for you to experience. It is translated as "mixed noodles".

It's made with thin wheat noodles, coated in tangy sweet and savoury gochujang-based sauce. We will be serving it with lightly fermented bean sprouts, a dash of onions, seaweed and house kimchi!

The simplicity of ingredients doesn't mean a lack of taste! It's perfectly balanced and has a TON of flavour.
