🥚🐔 LET'S TALK ABOUT BLOOD SPOTS IN EGGS! 🐔🥚

Have you ever cracked open a fresh egg and noticed a little red or brown spot on the yolk? ❤️

Don't panic! Here at Fenech Family Farm, we love educating our customers about where their eggs come from! 🚜🌾

🥚 WHAT IS A BLOOD SPOT?

Blood spots are completely natural! They occur when a tiny blood vessel breaks during the hen's egg-laying process.

🐔 WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?

There are a few reasons: 🐣 Young hens just starting to lay eggs.

🐔 Older hens experiencing natural changes.

🌾 Stress or changes in their environment.

❤️ Sometimes it's simply Mother Nature doing her thing!

🥚 DOES IT MEAN THE EGG IS FERTILISED?

Absolutely NOT! A blood spot does not mean there's a baby chick developing inside.

🍳 IS THE EGG SAFE TO EAT?

YES! A small blood spot doesn't automatically mean the egg is unsafe. As long as the egg is fresh, properly stored and thoroughly cooked, it's generally perfectly fine to eat.

If you prefer, simply remove the spot with a spoon!

🔍 BUT HOW DID IT GET THROUGH GRADING?
Our eggs go through a grading process, but occasionally a tiny blood spot can be difficult to detect, especially through a brown eggshell.
