Welcome to "Ben-Yi's Kitchen" - a cosy little shop, w/ Japanese snacks, drinks & some grocery items; the BEST crispy pork dumplings are available for lunch (FreshlyMade daily, small batch only, Mon-Sat).

Must say the jetlag has been a big challenge for me after our recent trip to Canada, I've been so sleepy during the day since we came home on Saturday & what annoyed me the most is that around 3am my brain always told me to get up and be ready for a "sightseeing" day (apparently my brain is still "having fun" in Canada 🤣🤣🤣)

Well, I can't afford to postpone the reopen date - so, tomorrow (Wed.) will be the day! 😄 As usual, door will open at 11am 😉

Please wish me good luck - Hopefully you won't see me snoring behind the counter when you pop in tomorrow 😂

***Sharing an update after a good break & my shop closure

Hope you all are doing well - you dumpling lovers? 😊

Sorry for my shop closure & having taken some time off for a break that I absolutely needed to refresh myself (also my mind), the opportunity comes only once in a while for a small business owner like myself, very precious indeed - Well, this time my partner and I chose somewhere quite far away - across Pacific Ocean with 17+ hours of flying - i.e. we had an amazing holiday in the very beautiful country Canada! ❤️

Honestly we both fell in love with this incredibly beautiful country because of its stunning views, the high density of foresty lands (through out cities & suburbs), the very friendly & welcoming people from very diverse backgrounds, the safe envoirnment for being out and about including at night, so many dog friendly spaces at so many locations including shops & airports, the strong passion in locals with their outdoor activities of all sorts despite various weathers, the amazing pastries & quality of food we ate in general (also surprisingly more affordable there in terms of eating out despite separate tipping & taxes, the only shock factor we experienced comes from their very high cost for grocery shopping at supermarkets compared to Australia)... Having said that, there's always seemingly a happy vibe wherever we visited, in every interaction with people there which has already made us miss our time spent there ❤️

Travel truly inspires me and teaches me what a person's life can potentially be in terms of its depth and width - also, the learning about different ways of defining joy in life & approaching the topic about life in general.

There are HEAPS photos I took daily, but I selected some which represent our entire stay there (sorry if its still too many for you! 😁), just thought I share the joy from our trip via a post - hopefully it makes you smile too 😊

With my return, my shop will certainly reopen within next few days - I just need a good rest and deal with the jetleg, do a few trips to my suppliers to stock up all ingredients for making those yummy dumplings... So, please hang in there if you have missed my 🥟, and please do keep an eye on the reopen date which will be shared on this page very soon.

Morning everyone, today's Monday 21 Sep - a new week has begun, I hope you had a lovely weekend? The weather was gorgeous on the weekend, my partner & I decided to go for a walk yesterday afternoon in 2 beautiful places - i.e. the Paddocks Wetlands in Salisbury & Wynn Vale Dam in Tea Tree Gully.

Both places were very peaceful indeed, despite the nearby busy traffic and roads especially the wetland which we visited first - we felt as if we were in the middle of nowhere like somewhere in the countryside, there was hardly anybody on the walking trail (Photo 4 to Photo 10) ❤️ Wynn Vale Dam was also peaceful - amazingly it had loooots of ibis birds and ducks (there was actually a bird sanctury on the water), very pretty, and we certainly enjoyed our loop walk there 😊

Pls feel free to flick thru the photos if you like - Last but not the least, I look forward to seeing you in my shop today (Pls keep in mind: this Wednesday will be the last trading day prior to my shop's temporary closure which was mentioned in a post on this page a few days ago).

Advance Notice: My shop will be CLOSED from next week Thursday (24/9/26), for about 3 weeks, as I do need a good break to just relax & recharge myself (so, my "one-man-show" will pause for a bit). The re-open date will be shared on this page around mid Oct. During shop closure, some work may be done inside my shop too. Thanks so much for your understanding & your support as always ❤️

Morning everyone, today's Monday 14 September - a new week has begun... I hope you all had a lovely weekend?

Yesterday afternoon my partner & I managed to do a trip in our car to beautiful Mannum where we had a fun time with friends - lots of improvised music from friends & their friends (with different music instruments!), lots of chitchat, a fun bday celebration for someone in the group, a relaxing walk in the town & by the river... Lucky me - I found a native plant that suits our garden at the local nursery before it was closed 😊

It wasnt the best weather wise - but it was still nice as we got some lovely afternoon sunshine & it wasnt chilly at all despite the rain 😉

Last but not the least, I look forward to seeing you today in my shop if you plan to pop in - Happy Monday! ❤️

Some of you probably know I love browsing artworks & buying plants (these are my top 2 hobbies apart from cooking!). I was always wanting to visit our new gallery in Gawler but had no luck due to working for myself in my shop & family committments... Well, today must be my lucky day - I fell in love with this very adorable "Hoot" artwork from a local artist Anna Pain when I first time saw it in a fb post weeks ago, guess what, very surprisingly it was still available when I finally got a chance to visit Gawler Art Gallery this afternoon (Yay!) 💕 Of course I bought it without a doubt and I cannot wait for it to come home with me after the current exhibition ❤️

It was lovely to meet the staff at the gallery - they were super friendly! If you love art, this is a great place for a visit 😊 Hope this post brings you some joy - and, the beautiful sunshine of this Spring season is so so nice and enjoyable! I'm enjoying this beautiful day, hope you are too! 🥰

Good morning everyone! Today's Monday 31 Aug - we've just started with a brand new week & we are glad that we recharged ourselves with a very lovely walk in gorgeous Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park yesterday, and it was a very beautiful sunny day, so so nice... I hope you all enjoyed your Sunday too?

Kaiserstuhl was new to us thanks to my partner who discovered it - we loved our one hour Stringybark track which was a loop, we got to see beautiful plants, a little creek which we came across here and there during the walk, heaps massive rocks of assorted shapes like sculptures and a couple of adorable kangaroos too (including a mother with her joey in her pouch)! Spring is such a beautiful season as the plants grow so nicely with lots of flowers being proud & showy - the idea for a walk like what we did in Kaiserstuhl was absolutely great for body and soul 😍

Having said that, I will be serving you with yummy crispy pork 🥟 in my shop as usual - so, I look forward to seeing you today 😊 Happy Monday! ❤️
