Simon was inspired to build his stall after a three-month road trip around Tasmania, where he and his family stopped at stall after stall selling beautiful local produce. Now he's paying it forward with honey of his own 🍯

A charity called Pesticide Action Australia bought 78 samples of fruit and veg out of Aldi, Coles and Woolworths back in June, sent them to a lab the same day, and published the results this week.

Four results were over the Australian limit. The biggest reading was on strawberries, a fungicide at nine and a half times the level allowed.

I've written the whole thing up, including the bits the headlines go quiet on. Four results out of 78 samples is the number that means a limit got broken. The much bigger figures going around, the 56 per cent and the 44 per cent, are counting something different, and the report itself says it's a snapshot rather than a national average. Going over a residue limit doesn't automatically mean something's unsafe to eat either.

And no, I'm not going to tell you the farm gate fixes it. Growers who sell at their own gate use registered chemicals too. What a gate gives you is someone you can actually ask.

🌸 SideStall of the Week: Love Billy Flowers

Some stalls are a whole family effort, and this one is our kind of story. 💐

Tucked into a front yard in Flagstaff Hill, Love Billy Flowers is Erin's little pocket of joy. She's been a florist for around five years, and when she and her husband John settled in the area, they knew they wanted to sell blooms from home. So John (very handy) built the cart by hand, and now Erin fills it fresh every week with bouquets and vases.

Erin's $35 wrapped bouquets and pick-me-up vases ($10 to $25) are the ones people keep coming back for. And more often than not, her daughter Violet is right there helping out and saying hi to everyone who stops by. As Erin puts it, the cart lets her practise the craft she loves while being home with her girl, and the local community has embraced them from day one. 🥰

A sweet one to look out for: the cart turns one on 31 October (Halloween!), with some birthday specials on the way. 🎂
