🐔 About the Brahma breed

Brahmas are a **large, heavy chicken breed** originally developed in the United States from Asian stock. They are sometimes called the **“King of Chickens”** because of their impressive size.

* **Very large body:** Mature roosters can commonly reach around **4.5–5.5 kg**, with hens around **3.5–4.5 kg**, depending on strain and management.
* **Slow-growing:** They take considerably longer to mature than commercial broilers.
* **Feathered legs and toes:** This is one of their most recognizable features.
* **Calm temperament:** Generally gentle and easy to handle.
* **Cold hardy:** Their heavy feathering helps them tolerate cold weather well.
* **Good for meat and eggs:** They are considered a **dual-purpose breed**.
* **Egg production:** A well-managed hen can produce roughly **150–200+ brown eggs per year**.
