Many people who receive treatment for Lyme disease continue to experience long-lasting symptoms. This condition is often called post-treatment Lyme disease (PTLD) and can include fatigue, pain, cognitive difficulties, mood changes, and reduced quality of life.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University conducted a small pilot study to explore whether Psiløcyb!n-assisted treatment could safely help improve symptoms for people living with PTLD.
The early study reported that participants showed improvements in mood, fatigue, sleep, pain levels, and overall quality of life, with some benefits lasting for several months after treatment.
Scientists emphasize that this was a pilot study with a small group of participants, meaning more research and larger clinical trials are needed before firm conclusions can be made.
Researchers continue to study how compounds found in Psiløcyb!n mushrooms interact with the brain and whether they may influence mood, perception, and emotional processing in controlled clinical environments.
