Last year we weren’t, but this year we’ve heard you. The Alphen Market is open from 2:00pm on Friday 30 Oct 🌿✨
And the forecast? A sunny 27° ☀️

So here’s the plan:

Oh, and by the way, we’ve added a selection of special b**rs for our Oktoberfest theme, on top of our usual range 🥨🍻

We have offered Uncle Paul's Christmas Party any assistance the may need to bring the event back to life, as well the opportunity of presenting their event, or portions of it, at the Alphen with us.

UNCLE PAUL’S CHRISTMAS PARTIES FORCED TO CANCEL IN 2026

The much-loved Cape Town Christmas tradition will take a year’s pause with organisers determined to rebuild and return in 2027.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that there will be no Uncle Paul’s Christmas Parties at Groot Constantia this year. What would have been the 70th year of this much-loved Christmas tradition is sadly not to be.

Unforeseen damage to critical infrastructure at the castle site has left us facing significant challenges in preparing for this year’s parties. After carefully assessing the damage and exhausting all available options, we have determined that we do not have the resources, manpower and time to guarantee the safe, successful and magical event our community has come to expect.

Our team includes volunteers who have been involved in Uncle Paul’s for the past 20 years. We are deeply passionate about this labour of love and it is incredibly important to us that every Uncle Paul’s lives up to the quality and consistency our community has come to expect. We feel it would be a disservice to our community to proceed without being able to deliver the standard of event that this tradition deserves.

We know that many children and families will be bitterly disappointed, and we are truly sorry that we won't be sharing the magic of Christmas with you this year. However, Uncle Paul’s is not going anywhere! Our volunteers are determined to rebuild and return in December 2027, stronger than ever.

To the families who have supported Uncle Paul’s across generations, thank you. Your loyalty and love mean the world to us. With the support of our wider community, we hope to repair what has been lost and welcome you back to the castle to create many more Christmas memories together.
