One of the beauties of using a loofah is that it naturally breaks down, it let's you know when it's time to replace it, unlike the plastic dish sponge of yore that we've all used well past its hygenic life span. And disposing of a loofah is super easy, just toss it in your compost or into the soil of a plant; the loofah will naturally break down, leaving zero plastic waste in our environment for decades to come.

It doesn't happen often, but sometimes a supplier will send the incorrect order. Today, it did, so instead of the lovely brown rice they normally supply us with, we received this beautiful purple rice.

Sure we could have just sent it back, but we thought hmmm, why not try something new and see what you all think?

Interested? Just bring a clean, dry container and try something new!

Some write lists on their fridge and then snap a photos of it, others keep the list on their phone, and some still love a hand written list (this one in doctor's font, hahaha!)

Do you make a list or do you just keep it all in your head?

We posted very recently about these new deodorant sticks that we had brought in to test out with you all. Well, we sold out in literally a few days, with some customers returning to buy more to share with friends. We were hopeful they would be well received, but never thought they would be so strongly!

So for those of you who missed out on that initial batch, we've brought in more with a new scent added:

*grapefruit & patchouli
*palmarosa & ylang ylang (NEW!)

Remember we had our small shop at the Hoi An Eco Hub? Well, we've finally managed to relocate the Eco Hub to Cam Kim. And while our shop there is now more of a refill station with our awesome eco-friendly cleaners and bo ket natural shampoo, the hub still has lots of other awesome things going on!

Like this weekly Zero-Waste Market kicking off THIS Saturday, May 23. So many cool things to experience while you're there, check out local garden producers, say hi to the chickens, learn a different zero waste skill or craft each week, donate your organic waste, refill your cleaning products, and donate your CLEAN plastic waste as there is a collection point at the hub. Sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it!

So, find us on Google Maps, we're located behind Nguyen Duy Homestay on Cam Kim. The event runs from 8:30-12:30pm...and it's nicely shaded!!

Bạn còn nhớ cửa hàng nhỏ của chúng tôi ở Hội An Eco Hub chứ? Cuối cùng thì chúng tôi cũng đã chuyển được Hội An Eco Hub đến Cẩm Kim. Và mặc dù cửa hàng ở đó giờ đây chủ yếu là trạm Đong Đầy lại các sản phẩm tẩy rửa thân thiện với môi trường và dầu gội tự nhiên tuyệt vời của chúng tôi, nhưng Hội trường vẫn có rất nhiều hoạt động thú vị khác!

Ví dụ như Chợ cộng đồng giảm rác -hàng tuần sẽ khai mạc vào Thứ Bảy tuần này, ngày 23 tháng 5. Có rất nhiều điều thú vị để trải nghiệm khi bạn đến đó, tham quan các nhà sản xuất vườn tại địa phương, chào hỏi những chú gà, học một kỹ năng hoặc nghề thủ công không rác thải khác nhau mỗi tuần, quyên góp rác thải hữu cơ, chiết rót các sản phẩm tẩy rửa và quyên góp rác thải nhựa SẠCH vì có điểm thu gom tại Hội trường. Nghe thật tuyệt vời phải không nào!

Vậy thì, hãy tìm chúng tôi trên Google Maps, chúng tôi nằm phía sau Homestay Nguyễn Duy trên đường Cẩm Kim. Sự kiện diễn ra từ 8:30 đến 12:30 trưa... và có bóng mát dễ chịu!!

A sweet new item has arrived to the shelves of Refillables! That's right, and this one is super yummy!!

You may have have noticed we have a molasses type of sugar in bar form; they're delicious, but not the easiest to use in something like baking. Well, we now have that very same molasses sugar but in a more "powder-like" form, making it so much easier to use.

If you're like me, you might be wondering how does this sugar differ from say, brown sugar? Well, molasses sugar is 100% cane sugar whereas brown sugar is really just white, refined sugar with liquid molasses added back in. Something interesting to note as well, molasses sugar actually retains the vitamins and minerals in cane sugar that is normally stripped away during refinement; think trace amounts of iron, magnesium, calsium and potassium.

If you're ready to make a break from refined white sugar, then swing by the shop with a clean, dry container and check out the options we have available.

Có thể bạn đã biết rằng chúng tôi có loại đường mật mía dạng thanh; chúng rất ngon, nhưng không dễ sử dụng trong các món như làm bánh. Giờ đây, chúng tôi đã có loại đường mật mía đó nhưng ở dạng "bột" ,dễ sử dụng hơn rất nhiều.

Nếu bạn giống tôi, bạn có thể thắc mắc loại đường này khác với đường nâu như thế nào? Vâng, đường mật mía là 100% đường từ cây mía trong khi đường nâu thực chất chỉ là đường trắng tinh luyện được thêm mật mía lỏng vào. Một điều thú vị cần lưu ý nữa là, đường mật mía thực sự giữ lại các vitamin và khoáng chất trong đường mía mà thường bị loại bỏ trong quá trình tinh luyện; ví dụ như một lượng nhỏ sắt, magiê, canxi và kali.

Nếu bạn đã sẵn sàng từ bỏ đường trắng tinh luyện, hãy ghé qua cửa hàng với một hộp đựng sạch sẽ, khô ráo và xem các lựa chọn mà chúng tôi có sẵn nhé.

I'm not sure there is a child out there in the world that does not enjoy filling containers with stuff. The excitement, the delight, the sense of accomplishment, I'm not sure what it is, but whether it be rocks, beads or butterflies, kids just love filling empty jars with stuff.

So, maybe that has something to do with why refilling feels so good. Of course it's great for the environment, and here at Refillables it's also great for the wallet, but, perhaps it's also this feeling that reminds us of our childhood when the simple act of filling an empty bottle was magical. And truthfully, in this day and age, who doesn't want to feel a little bit of childhood wonderment move through them once again?

So grab those empty bottles and jars and come refill them, and if you have extras, bring them along because there are always people of all ages needing jars to fill!
