FarmShare Fresh: ALL ABOUT ZUCCHINI!

Fresh, versatile, and full of goodness — zucchini is a seasonal favorite that makes eating more vegetables delicious and easy!

WHY WE LOVE ZUCCHINI

💧 Hydrating: Zucchini has a high water content to help keep you hydrated.
🌿 Vitamin C: Supports immune function and healthy skin.

👩‍🍳 3 EASY WAYS TO ENJOY YOUR ZUCCHINI

🍳 1. Garlic Zucchini Sauté Slice zucchini, sauté with olive oil and garlic, and season with black pepper and herbs. Ready in about 10 minutes!

🧀 2. Baked Zucchini Parmesan Slice zucchini, sprinkle with Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and a little olive oil. Bake at 400°F until tender and golden.

🍝 3. Zucchini Noodles Use a spiralizer or vegetable peeler to make zucchini noodles. Toss with cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and your favorite pasta sauce for a fresh, colorful meal.

🍓 Planting Today for a Sweeter Tomorrow! 🍓

At York Fresh Food Farms, we’re preparing for the 2027 growing season! 🌱 Our team is hard at work getting the strawberry patch ready for next year’s harvest.

Growing strawberries takes planning, patience, and plenty of care—but the reward of fresh, delicious berries is worth the effort! ❤️ Every step we take today helps us continue our mission of increasing access to fresh, affordable, locally grown food for our York community.

🌱❤️ Radishes: Small Veggies, BIG Flavor! ❤️🌱

Have you tried fresh radishes from York Fresh Food Farms?
These colorful little root vegetables bring a crisp crunch, a peppery bite, and a pop of color to any meal! 🌶️

🥗 Slice them into salads
🥪 Add them to sandwiches and tacos
🥕 Enjoy them as a crunchy, healthy snack
🍽️ Roast them for a milder, sweeter flavor

Try this week: Roasted Radishes & Caramelized Onions
Have you ever tried roasting radishes? You might be surprised by how delicious they are!
When roasted, radishes become tender and mild, while onions turn sweet and caramelized. Together, they make a simple, flavorful side dish!

🥕 You'll need:
❤️ Fresh radishes
🧅 One red or yellow onion
🫒 Olive oil
🌿 Garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper
👩‍🍳 Directions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Cut radishes in half and slice the onion into wedges.
Toss with olive oil and seasonings.
Roast for 25–30 minutes until tender and golden.
Serve warm and enjoy the delicious flavors of fresh vegetables!

🌟 We’re Honored! 🌟

York Fresh Food Farms is proud to receive the 2026 Rita Patz Good Neighbor Award from Bell Socialization Services! 💚

This recognition is a meaningful reminder of why we do what we do: to strengthen our community, improve access to fresh, healthy food, and make a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors.

At York Fresh Food Farms, we believe everyone deserves access to fresh, locally grown produce, regardless of their income or zip code. Through our urban farming, mobile produce markets, and community partnerships, we’re working every day to make that vision a reality. 🥕🌱🍅

We are also deeply grateful to the York County Community Foundation for providing the FarmWorks Employment Initiative Grant, which supports our commitment to creating opportunities through agriculture, workforce development, and meaningful community engagement. This investment helps us grow not only fresh food, but also skills, experience, and opportunities that strengthen our community.

Unfortunately, no market today due to the weather! We'll be back to our regular schedule this week at our mobile locations and Central Market with fresh, delicious locally grown produce!

Due to the remnants of Hurricane Isaias moving through our area this weekend, this Sunday's Second Sunday on King Market (October 11) has been cancelled. Forecasts call for periods of high winds and heavy rain, and the safety of our vendors, shoppers, and volunteers has to come first.

We'll see you at our next Market on Nov 8th!!!

Bright, crisp, naturally sweet—and packed with nutrition! 🧡
