Back porch sitting has become a favorite pastime of mine in the country. The quiet is something I’m learning to appreciate, but if you listen, nature really isn’t that quiet. And if you really look, there’s beauty that changes by the second.

First harvest of the summer. We’ve had a ton of rain and need some sunshine for my tomatoes which are all huge and green. The really cool looking squash are Green Lightning Patty Pan … I grew them from seed and they’re my favorite thing so far this year!

Rainy days are for those projects I’ve been meaning to get to … homemade turtles to die for! Roasted pecans, homemade caramel, milk chocolate … and finished with a tiny bit of flaky sea salt. Delish!

Dark chocolate almond turtles up next!

"Bee Together for People and the Planet – A partnership that sustains us all"

Today, May 20, 2026, is World Bee Day. This global observance was established by the United Nations to raise awareness about the critical importance of bees and other pollinators to our ecosystem, food systems and biodiversity.

We were lucky to spot the queen bee in one of our hives today during inspection!

She’s larger than the other bees. Her wingspan is only about half of the length of her body. Her thorax is long and pointed and this one is kind of orange in color.

Did you see her? 🐝

Just a little Sunday funny! 🍅
