When you have plans to place/cull a doe BEFORE you shave and fill them 🫣🫣 oops…luckily the home was understanding and has a few others joining them from the herd, cause this yearling FF gets another freshening here 🫢

“Mirabel CB Butterfly Ears”
Phalene (Cowboy x Gwen), yearling first freshener with twin bucks, nearly 4 months fresh.

💙S: CUATLILREDBARN Cowboy *B (CH CUATLILREDBARN Whistle Back +*B x CUATLILREDBARN Getty’ Up 5*M)

💜D: NC Fairytale SR Gwendolyn (Lil Mtn SD Sugar Ray x Cool Springs Princess Aurora)

I’m hoping she’ll gain more medial next year in a subsequent freshening but her teat size and length, perfect-size orifices, and pliable dairy skin (all traits that I’ve now seen consistently in my Cowboy daughters) are amazing for hand milking. Her attachments, and certainly her foreudder, could be stronger all around, but again, I’m willing to see what another year does for her.

Phalene is one of the sweetest, goofiest girls in the barn. Always in your pocket but up to a little mischief to make you laugh. I’m so glad she surprised us and we’re keeping her for at least another year.

Saying goodbye to those “special ones” is hard sometimes but we hope our goats go on to bless new herds.

Mirabel RL Asher was one of two kids in December of 2024 that survived the most difficult kidding we have had here. Ever since that day, he has been my buddy and the sweetest, easiest of bucks.

As time went on it became clear that he would not get used in our breeding program but would be a good fit for a small farm or homestead. Recently, we were lucky enough to find a great fit.

Go be great, Asher!!! We will miss you and your “Falsetto” as you ran to greet us on our walks, but know your new family will enjoy you just as much.

Farmers, find your closest baby animal and get them 💤💤💤 in whenever you can.

Update!! Little boys are definitely premature, my guess is about 6-7 days and Kal-ee was a late ovulator so my 145 day due date from the breeding date was correct (and I’m not losing my mind…or well maybe at least not on this particular issue 🙃🙃🤣)

They’re slow, and the little gold boy doesn’t have much of a suckle reflex so we’re tubing him for now. But as you can see they’re doing well about 36 hours in.
