Jerry's Garden is under new management beginning Friday, May 7. Health issues have taken over Jerry's passion for the vegetable market. Your friendship and support have been overwhelming for him. He will miss seeing everyone but as soon as he is able, you can be assured his truck will be in the parking lot. The Shook brothers, Hunter and Josh, are hardworking, honest, and we hope you will welcome them as you did our family.

Jerry is open! He has more squash, zucchini, pickling cucumbers, slicer cucumbers, red potatoes, and eggs than he knows what to do with them! If you need jars for pickling and buy cukes from Jerry, I will give you jars....you just need to buy lids. Jerry is ready to see you!

Due to the COVID-19 fear, we are not accepting used egg cartons. We have a new flock of chickens and in a few weeks will have a sufficient quantity of eggs. Our happy girls are cage free and graze free range. Jerry will open soon!

Several of our friends have called about strawberries and inquired about places to get local berries. Jerry did not plant strawberries for this season but we are able to tell you about local farms with berries. Also, College Run Farms did not plant strawberries for this season. Strawberries are/or will be available at Clint Allen Farm, MillFarm Christmas Tree and Berry Farm, and Holly Fork Pumpkin Patch Farm. All the farms are on Facebook. Egg production should be improving in a few weeks atJerry's Garden as the flock of chickens has been made much larger. Jerry, with help from our favorite son-in-law, Rich, and other family members, completed the greenhouse. He has veggie plants for sale with the honor system for social distancing. The garden is going slow due to all the wet weather and Jerry is looking forward to seeing everyone again. Please stay safe and be kind!

Jerry is home now and working on his complete recovery. He is planning to be well enough to continue his garden next spring. Before surgery, he planted a fall garden. Fresh kale, turnip and mustard greens, slenderette and flat beans are available now. He will have cabbage and collards hopefully before Thanksgiving. If interested in these veggies, call him at 757-592-3980. And remember him in your prayers. Your concern, get well cards, and support have meant the world to him.

Wednesday morning, Jerry had surgery for treatment of ulcerative colitis. He received a permanent end ileostomy. Surgery was successful and the outlook for a healthier life for Jerry is very good. He is at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA. Jerry should be home early next week. ( You should know that he planted a fall garden and is eager to see all of you as soon as he is well enough. Oh, the new stories he'll be telling everyone about his hospital stay.). Our address is 102 Morgan Dr., Williamsburg, VA 23185. Cards or notes would be appreciated. Thank you for your support and prayers. I will post updates on his recovery and he'll be back soon!

Jerry needs some help at the garden as soon as possible with the garden, chickens, mowing, etc. before his surgery on Oct. 9. He has enough work for about ten days. There may be more work while he recovers. He will pay $10 cash an hour. If interested or know someone who needs to work, call him at 757-592-3980.
