Hey we are FINALLY rolling out our next amazing hot sauce…Just in time for Valentines Day !! This hot sauce was created by special request. “Beet Me Up, Scotty!” was inspired by and for all the “BEET-le Juice” lovers (arguably our most popular hot sauce yet). This sister sauce is made with most of the same ingredients, but with crisp 🤌 green serranos instead of red vine ripe peppers. The lovers will have to wait until late summer for the famous bright pink “BEET-le Juice”. But in the mean time, you can succum to the out of this world smokey, crisp, and bright flavor of “Beet me up, Scotty” ❤️😍🥰💕💘

*Warning* While this is not a terribly spicy hot sauce, the label is extra spicy. May be too spicy for children.

It is hard to imagine that in just a few months, I will be begging this tiny seed to stop producing SO MANY tomatoes 😅 as hundreds of of medium sized round bright purple “black cherry” tomatoes climb and spill over my back porch, begging to be snacked on or a tray-full popped in the oven to make the BEST “sun dried” tomatoes for pasta. All from this little seed.

The black cherry tomatoes that we grow are indeterminate as indeterminate gets. But they produce. And they are soooo delicious.

Look for our staple black cherry tomato plants at Bane Board Company this spring. And seeds next winter.

We are learning as we go. And we hope that you are too! If you haven’t started, now is the time to plant your peppers and tomatoes from seed!

How big are your tomato plants? Is it time to prune them yet? Did you know you can easily root the cuttings from pruning and start whole new tomato plants… just stick the cuttings in a glass of water in the windowsill and they’ll start growing roots! (Be sure to pinch off any blossoms to make sure the plant focuses on root growth.)

Start propagating your tomato plants now, so that you can bring them to the Plant Swap at the Weston Carp Festival!

Cuban oregano - although it is much more succulent than your typical herb, it is indeed a culinary herb. You can dehydrate and process through a steel screen just as you would any other herb. And you absolutely MUST smell this plant. You can use it to flavor foods, scent soaps, and infuse salves with the plethora of health benefits that cuban oregano has to offer 🥰

One of our favorite things is learning new things ! We learned a rather cool thing this week…the “vicks” plant that we’ve been selling and the “cuban oregano” plant that we’ve been selling are actually very closely related…in fact they are different varieties of the same species! That makes sense with how closely their succulent leaves and veining resemble each other…

“Vicks” is sometimes referred to as cuban oregano on the west coast. As well as “Mexican mint” across the country. On the east coast there is a smaller leafed herbal smelling variety that is most widely known as cuban oregano on the east coast…but many customers have acclaimed that the broad leaf variety we carry smells much better!

So here is to now collecting more varieties of this amazingly frangrant, versatile, and beneficial plant. A new variegated variety will be available at Bane Board Company very soon !
