Yesterday, the prognosticating "Punxsutawney Phil", the celebrated weather rodent of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, saw his shadow! This conveyed a dismal forecast we all dreaded to hear: 6 more long weeks of winter!
We've had plenty of winter already this year, right? Surely that's enough for this season. Are we going to get 6 more weeks of it??? We hope not! Maybe there's a flaw in Phil's prediction. Maybe we have a chance for an early thaw.
Did you know Phil's accuracy record is only about 37%. And think about it, he's in Pennsylvania, not Ohio. Wouldn't you like to hear what a true buckeye has to say about all this? Have you heard about Ohio's very own weather-predicting groundhog? He's "Buckeye Chuck" from Marion, Ohio! He's hit the mark over 50% of the time! This year Buckeye Chuck did NOT see his shadow, which indicates we're definitely going to have an early spring.
If you need further assurance Spring IS coming sooner than later, consider the meteorological wisdom of Buckeye Lake, Ohio, dweller, "Benny the Bass". Yesterday, after fasting for 32 days, Benny the Bass was presented with a delicious bucket of minnows. According to those who know about such things, if Benny would eat a minnow within 3 minutes, that was a very good sign. And that's exactly what happened! Benny the Bass said "YES", get ready, warmer weather is just around the corner!!
For the Early Spring-hopefuls like me, we might be put to the test right away, with another winter storm making its way in our direction today!
