A little something y’all may not know about me… I write children’s books too! 😂📚💜

My son Jace inspired me to write stories about finding your place in a world where everyone is different, and knowing you have a special place in it, too.

I published My Star a few years ago, but between work and life, other stories I’d written got put aside. Some files went missing, and honestly, I thought I’d lost them. 🥹

Well… I found three of them! 🙌🏽 Now I’m working on bringing those Jace stories to life and giving My Star some extra love along the way.

Revisiting these books reminded me why I started writing them in the first place. They hold so much of my heart.

So alongside the bread, cookies, and chickens, you might see a few book updates here, too. 😂💚 I’m excited to share this part of me with y’all!

Ladies, can we sit and talk holiday food for a minute? Because my brain is already halfway into Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I still have October baking to do. 😂☕️ Like, slow down, ma’am. ✋🏾✋🏾

I start out thinking pumpkin and apple cinnamon. Then butter pecan sounds good. Then gingerbread comes to mind. Then I’m thinking about a chocolate peppermint cookie… so now I need somebody to take the notebook away from me. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣

I’m out of control. My hubby is going to think I’ve gone mad. “I thought you were making pumpkin bread?” I WAS, sir, but we’ve had several developments since then. 😂😂

And I’ve been thinking about toppings too. I like streusel, but I don’t want to put it on everything just because I can. Some things need a good glaze or a little icing and a chance to do their own thing. 🥰

Now, I’ve had zucchini bread whispered in my ear quite a few times these last couple of months. 👀😂 I hear y’all! And if you know me, you know I love trying new recipes, so that one has definitely made its way into my notebook.

But tell me, do y’all have a holiday flavor you look forward to every year? Or something your mama or grandma made that nobody has quite been able to make the same way?

The kind where somebody gives you the recipe, but yours still doesn’t taste like hers. Ma’am, what did you leave off this piece of paper? Because something is missing. 😂🤎

I love hearing those stories. Sometimes it isn’t anything fancy. It’s just the thing that always had a spot on the table, and it wouldn’t feel like the holiday without it.

So pull up a chair and tell me what yours is. And if your answer sends me back to my recipe notebook tonight, just know you’re partly responsible. I’ll be mentioning that when my husband asks where all these ideas came from. 🤣☕️🤎

Well… these Oreo cookies got a little more oven time than they needed. 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 I put them back in for a little longer, forgot to reset my timer, and then forgot about them!

Sharing this because a conversation with a customer yesterday got me thinking about the trust people put in small businesses.

Ingredients cost money. So does packaging, and our time matters too. It’s frustrating to lose a batch you worked hard on—but if I know something isn’t up to the quality I want to offer, I would rather take that loss than send it home with you.

These cookies won’t be making it to the Bailey Homestead table. Lessons learned, timer getting set next time! 😂

I won’t get every bake perfect, but I’ll always care about what I’m handing you. And if you ever get something from me that isn’t right, please reach out so I can make it right. Your money and your trust matter to me. 🤎

Apparently these glasses are just an accessory because seeing clearly is questionable. 🤓 And after bake week, my brain needs a little extra processing time.

A little more about the woman behind the mixing bowl… 🤎☕️

Before baking became such a big part of my life, working out was something I did for myself. Along with being more mindful about what I was putting into my body, I was taking care of it through exercise too.

And girl, it did so much for me mentally. It gave me somewhere to put the stress, clear my head, and have a little time that belonged to ME.

Somewhere along the way, that part of taking care of myself got pushed aside. Life happens, things change, and getting back into something can feel harder than starting it the first time.

But today I’m taking my first step toward getting back to it. 🥰💪🏽

I’m starting where I am, with what my body can do today. Trying to give myself the same time and attention I give to everything else… because apparently I need tending to just like this bread does. 😂🤦🏽‍♀️🤎

Got everything out… now I just have to stop looking at it and actually use it. 😂🤦🏽‍♀️ One step at a time, ladies! 💪🏽🤎

Okay ladies, bring your coffee over here because I need to know if y’all do this too. ☕️😂

I went online looking for cake pans. That’s it. Cake pans.

Now I’m comparing colors, sizes, lids, prices per pan… reading reviews like I’m about to buy a whole private island. Meanwhile, I still haven’t checked out. 🤦🏽‍♀️

The sage green is pretty and goes with my bakery colors, but then I see the black and think, “Ooooh, now THAT would be cute with those chocolate cakes.” So now we’re having a whole debate over something that’s going to hold a cake. 😂🖤💚

And you know how you start thinking, “Well, if I order these, I might as well get the labels to match…” That’s how they get me.

My bakers, friends, and family, please tell me you understand. ’Cause, like, what am I doing right now? 🤪 And I know somebody has curtains, a purse, or three different versions of the same shirt sitting in their cart right now. 🤣

What are we overthinking buying this week? Because apparently mine is cake pans.
