If you are a customer and picking up farm orders today, we apologize for the horrible noise you will hear (and probably feel!) while here.
This event is literally shaking our house and rattling the windows. There are items on shelves rattling from the base turned up in this audio, hoping they don’t vibrate off!! It sounds like a train is about to come through the wall. Not feeling very understanding right now!

OH. MY. WORD! Do you see it?

It’s the 3rd week of May and the garlic scapes have already started. 😳 It seems they get earlier and earlier each year. Usually they come during strawberry season, and it’s hard to find the time to process them like I should. But I ran out of my (canned) garlic scape relish a couple months ago, so if they are early, I just might be able to get more accomplished.

Got asparagus? 😋 We do!! 😁 Bunching it up to send out to the Parma Heights and Strongsville buying clubs tonight and the on-farm pick up orders for this weekend.

FINALLY! Time to start putting some of these things in the soil. I’m tired of babysitting them! 🌱

A cattle drive of sorts. They are leaving the chicken pasture to the one behind them but there isn’t a gate (yet) connecting these two, so they have to take the scenic route. Those calves can always be a little tricky to corral.

Another view! Here we go again, but this time it comes with a freeze warning. Have ALL the patches covered this time (some you can’t see from here) of strawberries and asparagus and potatoes in the greenhouse.

Current view out the kitchen window. Cattle making their rounds through the pastures have brought them to the front chicken pasture. I don’t think the chickens mine sharing their grass with them, I think they actually like them there. It’s nice seeing them up close (improves our view…and entertainment) but they never hang around long as they have to keep moving to the next spot. Enjoying it while we have it.

If you are down in Amish country on a Monday you will see very clearly it’s laundry day for them (and btw- I’d like to have one of those pulley system from house to outbuilding).

It’s laundry day here on the farm too, but not because I have set days to do it, we do it when we need to. But today is also a great day to hang laundry on the clothesline outside…warm, sunny with a bit of a breeze.

Since the 39 yrs we’ve lived here, we have never owned a clothes dryer. Yep, no dryer here. 😁
We have a wood burner in the basement that heats the house so in the winter the clothes go on a line down there, and all other times they go outside. It’s freedom- a great way to save money and energy.

When out and about I love seeing people do it the old fashion way. Does anyone else still use the ancient technology of solar and wind power to dry your clothes outside ?
