Good thing I was home today. We had a swarm & was able to catch em. That puts us at 4 hives this season.

These Italian bees have been with us for 6 seasons. Swarming has many meanings and 1 is, theyโ€™re healthy/ need propagate the bloodline.

They're in the new home and will be moved to the bee yard in a couple days after they settle down. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ

Egg production will be delayed. We lost 10 laying hens over the weekend due to a mink. ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ˜ช

Things are a buzz around here. 2 new hives installed last week and theyre already building honeycomb. If mother nature permits we should have the Cloverfield planted within the next week for some really good honey. ๐Ÿ

Well, mother nature's roller-coaster caused some damage to our early buds. This is an example of how to gauge cold/frost damage on buds. Even though they haven't bloomed yet we have some over achievers that have pushed out pink buds early and its looking like we lost about 30% in the early morning hours when temps hit 23ยฐF. The still green younger flower buds seem to be fairly Ok. Unfortunately we wont know the extent until closer to mid-May to see if it will have any effect on our You-Picks and or variety availability.

April brings along good signs. They've started to bud out. Not many yet but should be more showing signs in the next 2 weeks! Fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคžthat late frost stay away like last year we can have a crop. Stay tuned for posts and updates.

๐Ÿฃ๐ŸŒธ WE ARE EXPECTING! ๐Ÿฃ๐ŸŒธ

Weโ€™ve got some exciting news happening at the orchard! Misty & the kids bought eggs to hatch since our rooster wasnโ€™t quite the right breed to give us those beautiful colored eggs weโ€™ve been dreaming of.

I mean Tiffany Blue eggs? Why not?

And yesโ€ฆ Misty is a little boujee like that
(Would you expect anything less) ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฅšโœจ

If all goes to plan, weโ€™re expecting our new arrivals around mid-April, and we canโ€™t wait to see those tiny fluff balls (and future colorful eggs)!

Stay tuned for updates, spring just got a whole lot cuter around here!

We have Fresh Free Range Eggs available once again. The flock has decided their winter hiatus is over and they're gearing back up. As long as we have em we'll keep the cooler stocked at the road. Stop on out. Still just $3/dozen. Unwashed.

We're officially starting on the 2026 season. Pruning begins on all 220-ish of our trees. Even though they look ugly & butchered until the leaves come on, pruning helps control growth and quality of fruit production but getting rid of damaged branches, letting in sunlight and removing unnecessary woody growth that robs nutrients from the fruit. This process usually takes us between 50-60 man-hours per season. Here's to the start of a good 2026 harvest!
