Corn sure loves the heat. This last block of corn sprouted in five less days than the first block it's leaving me scrambling for supplies just ordered the last batch of corn and have to make my last trip mass for fertilizer. That's an all day trip. Spraying the old second corn for weeds I'll be glad when it's all done. I love to grow corn but it's a lot of work.

Well that was a nice rain last night. It's here at a very good time the young and sprouting corn will really appreciate it. Besides that the air feels nice. In later years mother became kinda sick of the whole farming thing. I can remember her saying do you people ever think of anything but the weather or corn. I can understand how she felt. She had listened to it all her life and was so sick of it. She was right but weather and crops are everything to farmers when it goes bad it really sucks. Anyway after last night it's good for a little while. That doesn't mean it's all good forever just a little while. Just have to watch it for a little while.

Well what a week it has been it started Tuesday with a trip to Hatfield mass for supplies my brother Dave loves a ride so he goes to keep me awake. Then fixing the field in the killer heat. Haven't quite recovered from that one yet. A Saturday bread day that turned into opening day for the farm stand. Not much to sell yet but still had a great day. It'll get better. The most important thing this is the end of winter summer is here and the madness begins It's all out crazy but I do need to get the funds flowing let's all have a great summer and you all try to eat locally produced foods as much as possible. It's time to feed the chickens so I gotta get going as soon as I can move.

Ok we will be on the stand tomorrow because of the heat and yesterday's projects I'm not going to be at 100% the food will be on the stand the building will be a little weak some more cleaning is needed but I'll get there just a bit tired and having a bad heat day today. Man what a day this has been. If you didn't notice it's freaking hot. No ac in mahindra yet. Luckily he got the filters clean so it blows a hurricane it's a hot hurricane But a hot hurricane. It's seven pm and Doug is planting I'm sitting in the pickup doing backup. I did three implement changes and loaded about eight hundred pounds o fertilizer in the spreader and spread it. It sure looks like a hell of a lot of corn but you know I have a lot of raccoon coyote bears and squirrels to feed so hopefully I will get some when they are done. But of course the weather gets a vote Will it rain to much or to little will a hurricane blow it all over Who the hell knows I'm sitting hear in this truck exhausted hoping it will turn out good but who the hell knows. A friend who bet on sports once told me that he liked to bet but I was nuts. There was never a sports bet as risky as this. I don't know guess I'm an optimist it'll work out maybe?? Well it is a life style don't you know. What an idiot I am. All farmers go through this and feeling the heat and seeing how dry it is let's not forget the critters lined up with forks in hand napkins tucked under there chins. Mama picking and doling it out to the kids on all the farms in America. I justgot one thing to say to the public. Your lucky you got anything to eat

Ok I should be open on the stand with strawberries the cooler is cooling. Just need to do some cleaning. Jack will fix the lawn. We sshould be ready to go by Friday or Saturday. Here is the baking list.
