Well, that’s a wrap on the 2026 asparagus season for us! This is what all of those spears we’ve been picking have been trying to do! This is 4 days growth, they love this heat, especially with the amount of moisture that we’ve had!
Jane and I are SO GRATEFUL for all of our many customers! This has been our best season yet for the roadside stand! We’re looking forward to 2027!

Well, we’re winding down! Planning to attend the Boscobel Farmer’s Market this Saturday, from 8 am to noon. Sunday the 28th is an estimate. We have a few orders to fill, and sales at the roadside stand are strong! We are so grateful for all of the asparagus lovers out there! We have a few hundred lbs in the walk-in cooler. When that’s gone, we’re done until next year!

We continue to have a good supply of fresh asparagus! This will be the last week for asparagus. It’s time to let the fields rest, do it’s photosynthesis thing, and build up root reserves for production for next year.
We plan to attend the Boscobel Farmer’s Market this Saturday, June 27th. We will keep the roadside stand open and stocked through the weekend. We will keep you posted as to when we stop picking, and when we close

People have left some interesting things, from time to time at our roadside stand. Lots of notes, telling us that they love the asparagus, or thanking us for doing it, etc. Occasionally, something asparagus related that someone wants us to have. This one rates up there as one of the most interesting items that we’ve received to date! Thank you Ed Jobs!

Back to the new planting…..
Here are a few pics, one of an individual root, or crown. And then a couple of the roots laid In the trench. The goal is to have the crown of each root end up 8-10” apart, and the trench should be 8-10” deep. With the crowns all laid out in the trench, they will be covered with 2-3” of dirt. This will still leave a trench where the rows are, and the trench will be gradually be filled over the next few weeks, as the new ferns grow out of it. The field will be cultivated numerous times through the course of the summer, to keep w**d competition to a minimum.
