On May 22, 2026, Azerbaijan Fish Farm, within the framework of a public-private partnership (PPP) with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Center for Fisheries and Aquaculture, hosted a significant event in Neftchala dedicated to the International Day for Biological Diversity.
E The Caspian Sea is home to some of the world’s most unique and irreplaceable species, and its preservation is not only an environmental obligation, but also a shared responsibility. For Azerbaijan Fish Farm, this responsibility goes beyond words - it is reflected in the actions we take throughout the year.
Ca As part of our continued commitment to restoring marine biodiversity, the release of more than 150,000 sturgeon ano 50,000 Caspian salmon into the Caspian Sea is planned for this month alone. These releases are part of a broader annual programme. By the end of 2026, a total of 500,000 sturgeon will have been returned to their natural habitat, contributing to the long-term recovery of one of the Caspian Sea’s most ecologically and culturally significant species.
• This year’s event was also attended by Baku Caviar’s partners and international guests from the United States and Japan, reflecting the truly global nature of biodiversity conservation and the growing recognition of Azerbaijan’s active role in this effort.
9 The International Day for Biological Diversity serves as an important reminder of the collective action required to protect our natural ecosystems. Azerbaijan Fish Farm remains firmly committed to leading by example through responsible aquaculture practices, strategic partnerships, and a long-term vision for a healthier and more balanced Caspian Sea and Kura River basin.
