In 1951, Jean and Nate Hartzell opened a grocery store in Benton, Wisconsin. There they raised their 3 children (Bob, Vicki, and Harry) who each grew up working in the store. In 1974, Jean and Nate purchased this grocery store in Warren, Illinois. Their sons, Bob and Harry, later took ownership of the store. Their children, too, worked in the store during high school and college years. Bob's son, Matt, and Harry's son, Jason, now have part ownership in the business, making it three generations of the Hartzell family who have owned and operated this store. We truly are a "Hometown Proud" IGA store, proudly serving our customers, our own community of Warren and the surrounding communities. Our product line, cleanliness, friendly and efficient service, and community support and involvement have earned us the IGA 5-star retailer rating for 11 consecutive years. Let the Hartzell's IGA family serve you!
