Northcoast Natural Foods Co-op near Bellevue, OhioI am interested in hearing from interested parties in the Sandusky, Erie, Huron and Seneca County areas of Ohio, who are interested in creating a Co-op for food, fun and anything else that is allowed to do cooperatively. I like: the Bountiful Basket concept, buy a laying hen and receive free range eggs each week, buy ...chicks and rec...eive free range processed chickens when they mature, buy a share of a beef steer, lamb or pig quarter or half, and have it available in weekly portions. I believe the options are endless.
There are local farmers and ag businesses who would sell us vegetables and fruits (Organic and regular) at the same price as they sell to the big box stores and we save by buying in bulk and splitting our own. We have fish, dairy and meat suppliers who will do the same. This can be expanded to dry goods/paper products, etc. I have access to a Mini-farm, centrally located in the Northcoast area where the chickens (layers and meat birds) will be housed and free ranged on grassed pasteur and natural rain water from our two cisterns. I am negotiating with local farmers for produce and garden land, and am establishing agreements with several local ag businesses.
