The garden is officially planted – yahooo! Once Galen was home from work Friday we finished.
Saturday we weeded up a storm, same with Sunday until rain, a downpour shut us down. That was the view from inside the truck!! Sunday was Galen's birthday, and he had a surprise visit from Gracie! Her and I planned it. She surprised him while he was working in the shop after the rain! We had a great visit, and her visit made Galen's birthday so very special! Thank you so much Gracie! Happy birthday Galen!!!!

Although the rain slowed down planting our plants appreciated it. This weekend I drove the tractor, Galen planted and Kathy did her tasks with prepping plants, flats and inserts. Dexter was not thrilled that I was on the tractor and made driving a challenge at times. We have a family of woodpeckers every year in our tree claim. I've discovered they are quite curious and watch what we do in the garden. We made it inside just before the storm Sunday – check out the one picture of the sky! Hopefully the garden will be finished next weekend. Weather permitting!!!

Friday we were blessed with almost an inch of much needed rain. We weren't able to prep for planting til Saturday. Once it dried out Galen tilled, Tyler and Brit loaded up their mower, plus one of ours and they mowed everything for us. I loaded the plants for Sundays planting on the planter, trailer and JT (my truck).

Sunday, well Tyler was so busy finishing the tilling and prep to plant the sections, he tilled with our little tiller cub tractor, and played mechanic. He was all over the place, budy busy, I couldn't catch up with him for pictures.
Galen drove the planter, and Gabe and Brit planted. I loaded plants for each section on my wagon and Jake, then took them out to the planter. I then took the empty flats, and inserts to Kathy to get put away on the trailer. She also got the tags cleaned up and ready for next year. I then took the left over plants back up to the greenhouses. Then loaded for the next section. They could plant a section in about 40 minutes so Dex and I were running. Once we were done with all the sections we reloaded for Monday.

Monday again we had 62 hundreds of rain. Kathy and Brit came over and we took the loaded plants, checked and fixed them to make sure each 4 pack had four plants. Then we took them back into the greenhouse. It was way to wet to take the tractor and planter out.
Galen and I organized plants in the greenhouses, did some consolidating. About 5pm it had dried out a bit so Galen and I put in the rest of the beets and sweet corn. We also planted a bunch of dill. I hope we have good luck w\with that this year.

We ended up planting - all our squash – butternut, buttercup, acorn, carnival, delicata, spaghetti, turks, hubbard, zucchini. Jarradale the blue pumpkin squash. New this year – Galeux D'Eysines a squash that looks like a bumpy pumpkin. We also planted mini pumpkins two new varieties, mini gourds, watermelon and muskmelon. 13 total!

Thank you ever so much, Tyler, Britney, Gabe and Kathy for your help. You are amazing. Galen and I soooo appreciate you!

A busy planting weekend!
Tyler drove the tractor, Gabe and Galen, or Galen and I planted. I mainly did planting prep and got flats and inserts organized! Scott spent from 8am to 6pm Saturday mowing! He took home a lot of garden dirt! We planted, Captain Jack pumpkins, big beef tomatoes, roma tomatoes, red potatoes, white potatoes, and big bertha bell peppers. A total of 27 sections/garden plots. We were rained out by 4pm on Sunday or we'd have got more done. But we are ever so grateful for the rain. It was definiately a “me and the guys” weekend. I think Dexter enjoyed it!

Saturday May 9th we planted two sections of sweet potatoes, approxmately 775 plants. Then 3 sections of yellow and white onions 2700 total. I drove the tractor, Galen & Chastity planted and Kathy prepped plants.

Sunday, it was Galen, Dex and I. We planted more onions 500 yellow and 500 red. Then we planted our seed crop. That consisted of peas, beans, carrotts, round beets, cylinder beets and our first two patches of sweet corn.

Friday, I finished transplanting the seedlings in the plug flats to the flats that go out in the greenhouses. Saturday and Sunday we planted the seed in flats, squash, cucumbers, the rest of the pumpkins and the melons. The weekend before along with transplanting we planted the jack o lantern pumpkins – 80 flats. Then Saturday and Sunday it was 264 more flats –a total of 344. In each flat we planted 150 seeds – do the math!!! Yes we planted a total of 51,600 seeds. A BIG, BIG thank you to all my helpers!!!!

The rhubarb didn't care about the frost. We ran furnaces in the greenhouses for the rest of the plants.

Tuesday was my last eye appointment. I've had weekly appointments for 6 weeks. I'm done with my LAL treatments and had my last two lock in appointments. I'm good to go for 5 weeks. Yesss!
