Friday we were blessed with almost an inch of much needed rain. We weren't able to prep for planting til Saturday. Once it dried out Galen tilled, Tyler and Brit loaded up their mower, plus one of ours and they mowed everything for us. I loaded the plants for Sundays planting on the planter, trailer and JT (my truck).
Sunday, well Tyler was so busy finishing the tilling and prep to plant the sections, he tilled with our little tiller cub tractor, and played mechanic. He was all over the place, budy busy, I couldn't catch up with him for pictures.
Galen drove the planter, and Gabe and Brit planted. I loaded plants for each section on my wagon and Jake, then took them out to the planter. I then took the empty flats, and inserts to Kathy to get put away on the trailer. She also got the tags cleaned up and ready for next year. I then took the left over plants back up to the greenhouses. Then loaded for the next section. They could plant a section in about 40 minutes so Dex and I were running. Once we were done with all the sections we reloaded for Monday.
Monday again we had 62 hundreds of rain. Kathy and Brit came over and we took the loaded plants, checked and fixed them to make sure each 4 pack had four plants. Then we took them back into the greenhouse. It was way to wet to take the tractor and planter out.
Galen and I organized plants in the greenhouses, did some consolidating. About 5pm it had dried out a bit so Galen and I put in the rest of the beets and sweet corn. We also planted a bunch of dill. I hope we have good luck w\with that this year.
We ended up planting - all our squash – butternut, buttercup, acorn, carnival, delicata, spaghetti, turks, hubbard, zucchini. Jarradale the blue pumpkin squash. New this year – Galeux D'Eysines a squash that looks like a bumpy pumpkin. We also planted mini pumpkins two new varieties, mini gourds, watermelon and muskmelon. 13 total!
Thank you ever so much, Tyler, Britney, Gabe and Kathy for your help. You are amazing. Galen and I soooo appreciate you!
