I called red Clover nature’s multivitamin. It has so many vitamins and minerals as well as properties that will drain, lymphatic, aid in hormones, detox metals, and so much more. If it grows in your yard, take advantage of it now.

There are so many misconceptions about homeschooling. There’s also a lot of stereotypes that don’t apply to most homeschool families. While there’s so much I could say about all of that I’ll share with you the first things that come to mind that make homeschooling special to me.

I have kids who operate at different paces. With homeschooling I can respect their process. One of my kids needs more breaks involving movement to process information. I’ve learned that my other one will show me when her brain is ready to advance to the next level. Each child has their own rhythms, processes and paces. It’s a disservice to send my child to a classroom of 30 with one teacher who, try as she might will never discover these technicalities of my kids.

But you know what else? It’s a whole other level of connection that I’m privileged to have as their mother to get to know them in this way. It creates a family bond that many don’t realize is missing.

It’s one of the most special decisions we’ve made.

As I begin to introduce solids for my baby, I learned about a new way to do it and I’d like to share. I saw some research that said ‘if a baby is coming off of breast milk which is all protein and fat, why do we start them in carbs and sugars?’ I had an aha moment! Then I learned that babies digestive systems aren’t ready to handle carbs and sugars until they’re about 2 years old.

So I’m starting with meat stock, egg yolks, liver pate, butter and whipped marrow. Lucky for me I live near who makes and sells grass fed/finished whipped marrow from their own cows. I asked them to make me some in small jars and they even customized the label.

Her first tooth just popped through which is an indication that her digestive system is ready for solids. Our girl is going to be nourished so well with healthy fats and proteins. I can’t wait!

This amazing quote by got me. Today I was in the greenhouse watering with my husband and baby. The weather was a perfect spring day. The frogs were cherping. I could hear the hum of a new mommy cow talking to her baby. I said “This is a good life babe. We did good.”

Don’t get me wrong. We have plenty we wish was different but we live with a peace regardless and we’re able to enjoy the little things like gathering rainbow eggs from the coop.

What life treasures are in your pocket?

Farmer’s have their finger on the heartbeat of our food systems. You may be seeing people post about the cost of calves or cattle in general and you may think it doesn’t apply to you because you’re not a farmer. But it has to do with us all (except for vegans 😂)

Let me explain. If a farmer buys a calf for $200 and after growing costs sells that whole beef for $2300, that’s getting you beef that’s approximately $6/pound.
If they’re buying a calf for $2000 and after growing costs selling it to you for $5000 then you’re getting beef that’s approximately $13/pound.

As farmers and owners of a meat processing facility we have been watching this happen to the meat industry for a few years now. What can you do? Well, if you have land for a cow, get one and finish it off yourself. If you don’t have that opportunity then please buy from a local farmer. Support the hardship that cattle farming is right now.

In this video is our first calf of the year. It’s a girl!! Mom’s name is Lolli and her sister is Poppy. Any name ideas?

I had an extra set of little hands, helping me mix the tea for today. (Disclaimer.: this is for our home, not tea that I sell.)

Long ago the term “shop local” spoke mostly to the importance of supporting your local economy. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still does! 100% But the value of shopping local is now for eating nutrient dense foods that have little to no poison.

The more I look at our food system the more I am appalled by what it has become. If the meat isn’t fake then it’s full of antibiotics, injections and high cortisol from stress. The vegitables are either fake or sprayed with poison and preservatives and the pantry aisles shouldn’t even be considered edible. How did it come this far?

Here’s something to think about. What is the better choice? An organic apple from Walmart or a sprayed apple from a local farm that you picked? While many may debate this, here’s my thought. Organic fruits are still sprayed and might even have APEEL on it. It was picked before it was ripe and has sat in crates for weeks. The longer a fruit is away from the tree or plant the more nutrients in lost. So now think about picking an apple at a local farm that sprays for basic pests and take it home right away to eat or process. For me the locally picked is way more valuable.

Local farms work hard to serve you quality food. Support your local farms and tag your favorites in the comments!

My friend wrote a book!! I’m not just posting this because she’s my friend but because it’s truly an amazing book! at is a one of a kind woman with talents too many to name. As a homeschool mom she set out to make a book that the whole family can do together teaching you about plants from the Bible. She shows what they do medicinally as well as teaching about character traits for each one. There are coloring pages, crafts, recipes and more. She not only wrote the book but she illustrated every bit of it as well. Head on over to Amazon and get your copy of Lessons from the Garden.
