With the announcement that SNAP benefits will not be funded in November, this is a reminder that you can still access your HIP benefits even if SNAP benefits are not being paid out. How?
- Keep at least $.01 (a penny) in your SNAP balance. You need a non-zero balance to get your HIP each month
- Visit an approved HIP vendor, like the Church Green Farmers Market: our last regularly scheduled Market is this Sunday 11/2
- Once the Farmers Market ends, you can find other approved HIP vendors on this website: https://dtafinder.dtadash.ehs.mass.gov/
Quick reminder: HIP, or the Healthy Incentives Program, is available to MA residents who get SNAP benefits. Depending on your family size, you can get $40, $60, or $80 extra dollars on your EBT card per month to purchase fresh fruits and veggies at authorized farmers' markets or farm stands. There's no signup - if you have SNAP, you also have HIP. And HIP is a state program so it will continue to be funded even while the federal SNAP program is not funded.
If you need immediate assistance you can call Project Bread FoodSource Hotline at (800) 645-8333 or you can visit a local food pantry - see the infographic included for leads. Not mentioned on the list of pantries is Taunton Area Community Table: 378 Bay St. Taunton, MA (Sit Down Meals: Mon-Thurs 11:15AM-
12:30PM; To Go Meals: 12:15PM-12:30PM; Dinner 5:00PM-6:00PM). We will plan to share more information on food resources local to Taunton soon.
