🎉🧀Happy National Cheese Day! 🧀🎉

5 years ago today we celebrated our favorite holiday by purchasing a cheese company, here’s what cheesemaker Gary posted that day:

“9 months and 1 day ago, Josh Hall and I drove up to Suttons Bay to discuss buying a business. I laugh now thinking about that day, we had no idea what we were doing! We were so far out of our league! Purchasing Leelanau Cheese Company at times seemed insurmountable, but I always believed we could do it. I felt the way would be prepared for us, and I have been a witness to miracles as we went forward with faith. Today I became a proud part owner and co-manager of the nationally renowned creamery Leelanau Cheese Company! So excited to see what the future holds for all of us!“

One week to CHEESE FEST 2026!

One of the best parts of owning a small business is the relationships you gain with other small businesses.
We want to introduce you to an old friend of Leelanau Cheese Company and the owner of Dan Young. Dan worked for Leelanau Cheese Co. founders, John and Anne Hoyt during their cheesemaking days at .
The day we took over Leelanau Cheese Dan hosted a retirement party for John and Anne at the beautiful location that is Tandem Ciders.

We are delighted to be partnering with Dan and our friends at Tandem Ciders for a Cider and Cheese Pairing Class during Cheese Fest on June 6th!

Meet Lorry, our favorite senior dairy industry field scientist!
Lorry has been our inspector since we took over Leelanau Cheese Company 5 years ago. Her job is to help cheese and dairy producers make the highest quality products possible.
She had her last official visit to our creamery this week as she’s retiring.
Sometimes inspectors can be scary but Lorry is anything but. She is awesome and we sure will miss her!

Help us congratulate Lorry on her retirement! 🎉🎉🎉
