The planning for spring and summer markets starts early. Today, 50 new Cinnamon Queen chicks arrived. When grown, these girls will be added to the flock allowing us to continue to supply beautiful brown eggs to our customers all season. For right now, we just get to hang out and enjoy their cuteness.

Cold days, warm kitchens, and a pot simmering on the stove.
Winter on the farm calls for comfort food.



As with all great family recipes, there is never really a true recipe to follow, it's more of a feeling. Below find a recipe inspired from 'I Wash, You Dry"

olive oil
1/2 an onion
1/2 a pepper (I used a red bell, because that's what we had)
1 lb Bluebird Meadows Farm 100% grassfed beef
1 1/2 tsp garlic (cloves are great, but today I cheated and used jarlic)
30 ounces (give or take) of tomatoe sauce
We can our own sauce in the summer using produce from our garden-use whatever combo you like best: sauce, diced stewed
We added some sundried tomatoes as well
1 1/2 cups of beef broth (I have also used vegetable)
1 1/2 tbsp A1 or worcestshire sauce
1 tsp seasoning salt, Farm Dust is our favorite
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 to 2 cups of dried pasta (we like fusilloni), but any will work)

Sautee onion, pepper, garlic and ground beef, until beef is thoroughly cooked. Great news, the beef from us is so lean, there isn't a need to drain.
Pour in broth, tomatoes, sauces and seasonings and bring to a simmer.
Once simmering add dried pasta.
One pot filled with love.
