Well, this season of gardening isn't going so great here at Prairie Produce. Saturday's storm ripped off our plastic. We've covered it with shade cloth we had on hand. Hopefully that will tide us over.

I'd love to see photos of your gardens!

Last year - wind and extreme heat.
This year - rain and hail

I made some raised beds out of grain totes! I cut the bag in half, filled with soil then put some seedlings in.

How are you all doing out there? Does anyone have anything they'd like to sell at the market? It is a community market! Even though I don't have any starts to sell, maybe you do 🥰🌱🥰. Just let me know!

How many of you raise your own meat for the freezer? We raised chickens and pigs last summer, we bought half a cow from a friend and we caught fish in Alaska. Our freezer is full!

Holy cow (or chicken)! Home raised chicken is so delicious! This bad boy was over 7 lbs of juicy, flavorful meat. You just can't beat it!

I'm very sad to say I was not successful in growing seedlings this year. I will barely have enough for my garden. I was able to offer hundreds of plants last may for our community, but I won't have any this year.

Thanks for shopping my market last season, hopefully I'll have some plants for you in the 2024 season. I will post here if I have enough produce to sell later in the summer.

I'm still here if anyone wants to sell at the community market, just let me know when you have produce to sell 😁

My order is on its way! I love looking through seed catalogs when it's cold and miserable outside. It helps me think about the warm spring days that are on the way.

What will you be planting in your garden this year? Will you be planting a little extra to bring to the Community Market? I hope so!

I'm still enjoying my summer harvest thanks to our freeze dryer. Here is a salad with freeze dried tomatoes being used as croutons.

Are you still enjoying your summer harvest? How did you preserve your produce?
