Here's my latest article about the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship at Saint Louis University. It's a challenge to take the title beyond resume decoration & into action. http://www.unewsonline.com/2016/02/25/mlk-more-than-just-a-scholarship/

In fact, research shows that at one point CO-OPs in the forms of businesses, housing etc. was essential to black survival in America. The truth of the matter is that at this time it was best for black to keep their tactics for economic survival under wraps, and within their communities only. If whites knew of these collective efforts it was guaranteed than an attack was sure to follow.

Pleased to announce that the mirrored casket created by Artivists Stl has been officially accepted into the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. We didn't create it for a gallery but rather to somehow express pain and suffering that went beyond words. The idea came from De Nichols. She was on the streets of Ferguson when protesters were met with tanks. At the direction of Tef Poe protesters got on their knees and raised their hands up. People in the pathway of a tank started literally praying. For several nights afterwards De had a recurring dream of a fractured mirrored casket. Marcis Curtis and Damon Davis turned it into reality. Other Artivists like Elizabeth Vega, Sophie Lipman, Mallory Nezam and Derek Laney supported the effort by securing funding, gathering supplies and planning marches where it would be used. Congrats Artivists!!
