We are always so very thankful for our MIproduce friends and supporters but we could never miss a chance to get in another thank you! So on this Small Business Saturday we want to reach out and send a very sincere thank you to all of you who have helped make our small business grow. It is definitely a little, niche operation but you all continue to come back season after season. Many customers have told us it is a summer tradition for them now. Wow! That in itself is something to be so thankful for. You know, just as we do, what quality summer produce should taste like and we are so excited we can bring it to you from our favorite place, west Michigan.
The 2025 season went along much the same as other seasons. Dealing with unpredictable and changing weather conditions continues to guide much of our business with what and when we can get you this great produce. We cannot even imagine how weighty this is for farmers who depend on their crops to feed and support their families. We are forever grateful for our partner farmers Seth, Michelle and Grandma at Leutzinger Farms and those at Reenders Blueberry Farms. Their pride for their farms and dedication to continuing the tradition of family farms is incredibly inspirational. They define true grit. Whether it is here in STL or anywhere else please always try to support family farms! Stop at their roadside farm stands, purchase from them at local farmers markets and let them know how much you appreciate them.
As we always do, we enjoyed seeing all of you during the 2025 season at various pick ups. The MIproduce season got off to a little later start this year due to Roommate #2 high school graduation as well as another family member's college graduation. Once we were able to get asparagus started we loved welcoming back our die hard asparagus lovers! If you havenβt tried the MIproduce asparagus yet you might want to put that on your list of things to do in 2026! It is incredibly delectable. The cherries were, as always, beyond delicious. This year we only offered dark and tart cherries which worked out well. As much as we love the light cherry it just does not travel in large quantities as well as the others. Cherry season is so fast that in the blink of an eye the blueberries started. We enjoy that delivery when the cherries and blueberries overlap; the van smells divine. All of August we were able to bring back those 5lb boxes bursting with the most gorgeous and delicious blueberries. Each week brings a different variety of blueberry which means a slightly different flavor. We think our biweekly customers are now able to discern these subtle differences. From late spring to late summer the west Michigan produce gave us weeks of culinary delights.
The van not only headed north all summer for MIproduce runs but it also headed south to central Texas in early August. Roommate #2 was delivered to where he will be spending the next 4 school years and now the house on Berry Wood Dr. is sometimes unbearably quiet with both Roommates away enjoying their college experiences. The constant hum is a distant memory as well as busy schedules. However, this all gives us extra time to think about how blessed we are!
We wish everyone restful, peaceful and beautiful holiday seasons and look forward to seeing you starting in late spring of 2026 when the hum picks back up, in more ways than one!
